1968 Chrysler 300 convertible, very good candidate for restauration
only 2,161 made
440 Engine, not running
straight complete car with some rust

Minor rust, Not running, Have title

That's the car I'm searching for! But...

Now I need you guys. What do you think about it? Is it a good car to start the first project? I'm not deep enough into the matter right now to know all the hidden weaknesses etc. ...

I'm really not sure about the not running engine and the rust!?

Oops missed it. Its early. Its definately beat up, plus the 440 isn't running for some reason....and looks like it was leaking something in first pick. I don't know I guess it all hangs on how much money and/or work your looking to dump in a car. I think if your patient you could score something in much better shape (and running) for $4K.

The current owner is very nice, his name is Alton. He said the rust is not that bad, one soft spot that he could feel in the interior but he said the trunk floor is solid. Body rust is mostly surface except for one lower quarter with small hole. He drove it into that building but it hasn't been run since. The oil spot on the floor may not be from the 300 as it looks like lots of cars have gone through that building.

I forgot to say, Matt has contacted the seller for me. Thanks for that!!!

I don't believe you for one second.

Does he mean that it WON'T run or they just haven't bothered to run it there?

someone who lives in this area to whom I can spend a lunch for inspecting the car for me?

I mean you know a lot about these cars. You're not really considering dragging this overseas. We both know already it would bankrupt you.

You're right Stan, I spend most of my free time searching classic cars just because I'm bored...

I'm not in a hurry, I can spend the next 10 years to restore a car... The only thing I don't want is a totally rusted out car...

I like the car. Great color combo. If it was driven into the building then a lot of service and maintance may be all thats needed. Jazabelle would'nt run when I got her but a new carb fixed that.

It looks to be well optioned likely cared for most of it's life. Worth checking into, price should be negotable.

I think the price might be negotiable but he did drop it by close to 2K from what they were asking on Craigslist. They haven't tried starting since parked is what he said.

No, it has side marker lights. The headlight doors are probably just up.

I'm undecided...

I've asked the seller about a few more pictures and information... Let's see what he's answering!
