I saw this one when I posted a batch a week or two back but passed because it is in Newfoundland, quite a distance from me. I figured I'd let someone from there post it. :)

The mention in the ad of Joey Smallwood is probably adding a few thou to the price. Smallwood was a legendary politician there, the man who brought Newfoundland into Canada. Nice taste in cars too.

WOW! Not overpriced IMO. A pic with the top up would be nice.
I wonder how much it would really cost to get that car to Detroit.

Just issue a factory recall with an Imperial letterhead. LOL!

Hansen's would charge $3026 includes tax from St John's NFLD to Windsor Ontario or $3416 to Detroit. I like to get both quotes for the border town's as sometimes the charges can be quite a bit higher if the transport company is crossing the border and doing the brokerage. I did a similar trip this past summer and my costs were about $1000.00 with my enclosed car hauler. Ferry was $108 per person and $217 for car on the Ferry to North Sydney Nova Scotia. I loaded the car in North Sydney and drove to Ontario for about $600 in Fuel. I pulled over at Truck stops so one would have to factor in accomodations if they were staying in a hotel.

I assume all of this is transportation costs. So what is the cost (taxes or import/export fees) does Canada/U.S. charge for a normal Joe like you or me to by a car in Canada and bring it to the U.S.?

I always check in advance of import fees/duties,safety and emissions with the year and make of car. I've only had to pay the Register of imported Vehichle fee (RIV) $205.00 on the older cars. After that its no different than any other vehichle purchase i.e.taxes,safety and license fees. The newer cars are a different story. Had to get a bumper reinforcement for a crossfire to meet Canadian Standards, all day running lights air tax $100,6.1 duty as it was made in Germany. Still saved thousands at the time but we checked in advance of the requirements. I met a guy at moparfest who bought a nice white 78 New Yorker on Ebay. The import broker charged him $4800 for shipping safety etc so it's buyer beware as he wasn't prepared for that bill. He will be doing it himself next time.

Thanks, I would definitely bring a trailer and bring it back myself.

Where's Leaburn (Cbarge) when you need him. He's the expert on smuggling... er... transporting things across the border.

Ok, forget it! If the 12.5 included shipping, I'd be all over it!

Ok, ok. Honestly I don't have the time or space right now, I'll have a `68 Road Runner to reassemble after paint this winter and some plans for the Imperial in the shop too.

Are you getting the Imp ready for Carlisle 2013?
