Hi!
I've been struggling to find a replacement brake booster for my Polara. The car has drums all around. No one seems to have one available with the exception of rebuilders. However, they appear to be very expensive. I'd like to stay south of $200ish if possible. I'd be game for rebuilding it myself if I could locate a rebuild kit. Any help would be appreciated. Here's some pics. I'm told its a Bendix.

In general, IF somebody might have a booster "sitting on the shelf", it will be rebuilt and they got it for a customer that never returned, years ago. Not being able to return it to the rebuilder, they will be stuck with it. Which is why it's on their shelf.

I suspect that if your car was a similar Impala, you might find some in stock. Much more sales volume for a Chevrolet item than a similar Chrysler C-body item. The internal guts might be very similar, but the mounting brackets would be unique to the vehicle's cowl contours.

Otherwise, you'll be looking at the universal boosters sold by Summit and others. Exact fit "With modifications".

I fully understand your sensitivity to pricing! Might help to shop around as this is not a generic commodity where all products are the same in pricing. Most probably, "shipping" will be required and it will not be "free".

Happy Holidays,

Harmon Classic brakes in Georgia sells rebuild kits but they're close to 200 for the kits...and You tube videos of how to rebuild them are pretty much nonexistant

I’ve been down this road as well. It’s a bendix single diaphragm. I could not find another. I had mine rebuilt by Harman. Great people to work with. Well worth it.

Can someone explain what years and for what models came with the Midland Ross booster? Or did that depend on assembly plant?

My 67 Monaco still has it's original Midland Ross booster. Is it "normal" for these original boosters to still be functional today?

How do you know when your booster needs to be serviced, or replaced? Massive engine vacuum failure? What?

You'll have manual brakes and a bog when accelerating from a stop when the booster has failed.
