Do C bodies follow the general pattern of B bodies in that the big block cars had front sway bars and the 6 cylinder and small blocks didn't?
if that is the case, is adding a factory (or, I guess..an aftermarket) sway bar to a non sway bar equipped 1970 C body.....a bolt on operation?
looking towards the next step in handling improvement if the new shocks don't get to the level I feel comfortable with.

It all depends, does your stub frame have this bracket welded in?

I think we're back to what came first the chicken, or the egg...... Or putting the carriage in front of the horse.... Many of us have spoken on what we recommend to get your car up to the handling you want. 75 percent of us have stated start with new leaf springs. I think installing new shocks will only be a temporary solution. I think installing a sway bar will be a partial solution. If you're set on total originality and your car didn't come with any sway bars wouldn't adding one take away from it being original??.....

I'm not set on 100% total originality with this thing....I'm willing to compromise on that for a somewhat safer car for long distance driving. But when I do vary from what the car was built with, I like to at least try and stay with factory parts that may have been optional or available with different engines.

I'm under here today working on changing the front shocks. I'm not seeing anything that looks like a sway bar.

Nope no sway bar there, first things first, the bracket shown in the second post here, do you have one? It is located on the inner side of the chassis frame on either side back from the radiator. (Just in front of the cradle that goes under the engine.) If you don't have these then it is going to be a big job to fit one. The ends of the sway bar actually fit onto the strut bars themselves using brackets and bushes.

Here is a broader reference. You need the top circled bracket. Mine is a PST because I couldn't find bushings for the original. Lower circle shows the difference with the after market

No, definitely no brackets there on mine. Now, I'm really wondering why some people here with 318s have sway bars and mine doesn't....
I see that FirmFeel sells a C body sway bar kit, but you have to buy their LCA brackets for an extra $50 if the car never had a sway bar. I guess their brackets are needed if you don't have the welded on brackets...like I don't.

on mine it was owner request...
Was it part of a "heavy duty" or trailering suspension option? I don't have a dealer book, so I don't know what it was possible to order a la carte. On my broadcast sheet, the code for sway bar is "00"...which apparently means "nada".
