1970 New Yorker 4d sedan for sale at eBay. BIN $7.500

What do you guys think, what would be reasonable price?
Got some close up photos from the lower rear quarters and they are showing typical issues for this area.

My dad bought this Chrysler New Yorker in 71 or 72. When he bought it he was told that it had been one of Nixon’s aid’s cars. We never followed up on that and I don’t know how to prove that.

Well, that can be difficult to prove if there is no documentation and what if would had been, would it increase the value?

The air-conditioner doesn’t work. Neither Dad nor I had it regassed. It is the type that you dial in the desired temperature

It has the Auto Temp system, most obviously it's not only a question of recharging the system. I have not seen for years a fully working Auto Temp AC

The clock doesn’t work—I think. I just can’t keep up with things anymore and need to get rid of some things

Maybe difficult to notice if it works or not

Chrysler transmission works well but there is leak at the fitting that goes into the transmission. (I caused that when I had the radiator out to replace the hoses and I’m too old to fix it).

The thread for the fitting from the transmission housing may have been damaged by this DIY guy

I would be very happy with 5 grand as long as there are no other hidden "suprises".

Just some (surface) rust...

Notice the tread pattern of the tire, this car most obviously has seen salty roads

The color change of the blue carpet and missing kick panel could indicate that someone has tried to find the source of water leakage

I'd say the color change in the carpet is due to 45 years of grime. It sure looks like the original carpet. And is badly in need of a replacement. You'll find a new one for say $250. - I don't want to interfere with this reversible auction stuff, though. It's up to you to decide. Overall, if I was looking for a sedan, this would be it. 67 thousand miles on the clock. Of course it's not a 2 car as the vendor claims, but it's a nice driver. No. 3, that is.

I think it is worth every bit of $7500, it's a beautiful looking car. If you want to sweat it out, fight for the high bid using Esnipe, then make the lower offer if the reserve is not met. One thing is for sure, if you do win it, have it swept for bugs!
