Word. That is a very nice car. Although I liked it slightly better when I thought it was yellow.

First C body vert I've ever seen with high back buckets, although I'm sure they are correct.

Haven't seen many of these that's for sure. I might have to go take a look at it. If the pictures don't lie he's probably in a fair price range .

They aren't correct. 1970 had the head rest that detaches. 1971 had high backs.

Definitely 1971 buckets as Big John said, so what else isn't original? I would need to see the fender tag to believe it had all those options from the factory - and if so, why would the original buyer not spend a couple extra $$ and get a 300 instead? All convertible Newports were the base models (Custom was not available as a convertible) and the base Newports did not come from the factory with dual pinstripes down the body side either as did the 300s, and I do not believe they were an option on those models either (but never say never).

Still a very nice car it appears though, and probably worth the money if you don't have to have perfectly original.

That is a beautiful car, is that a cruise control on the column and my door panels are different on my 70 Newport convertible. Could that be a late 70 model ? Or it just different interior combo ?

Both the bucket seats and the door panels are from a 1971 Newport 2 door hardtop, with the rear panels apparently modified some for a convertible, since they are different in shape from a two door hardtop. I can certainly agree with the choice of the 1971 Newport interior since it is definitely upscale and much more comfortable than the 1969-70 seats, but it is not original. But then, the owner probably figured correctly that hardly anyone would ever notice except the real diehards.

I posted that pretty late last night and omitted a key word... "not". As in "not sure they are correct".

That said, it otherwise appears to be an unmolested. Low miles car (typical conversion to duals aside). Would be interesting to know if there is a story. Late build for an executive? Keep in mind where it is listed.

As for why purchase this car vs. a 300, again, I can imagine a few scenarios. Buyer didn't want a "hot rod" 440? Cheaper insurance. Styling preference (70 Newport does have a nice grille.) didn't want hidden headlights. Put the extra cash towards options? My dad ordered a '92 Voyager loaded like a Town & Country (leather, etc.) at my suggestion and saved on both cost and insurance. If it still exists, it would be a head-scratcher in the minivan world.

Non-original interior, "wrong" wheels, steering column has Cruise but there no evidence of the unit on the motor, and no decent picture of the driver's side to really check - this car is modified. It's nice, but it is not "original."
