I remember shopping with my dad for a wagon in 1969, age 14. He was trading in a 64 Olds 88 wagon (mechanical problem child) and was trying a Chrysler product for the first time. Dad was very frugal but not cheap, and shopped for almost 6 months in the NYC suburbs for a car. The interesting thing was that a Chrysler Town and Country was only about $300 more than the equivalent Plymouth wagon (and $100 more than the Dodge). So, why not move up to a Chrysler, which I believe is why these Sport Suburbans are so rare.
I learned to drive on that '69, and dad drove it about 150K miles, and replaced it with a 77 Dodge Monaco wagon. He recalled that 69 as the best car he ever owned mechanically.
Oh, and I received a "Shutdown" Drag race model race kit from the dealer when we bought the car!
