First post from where?? Welcome to the site from the Motor City!

This is the second go around for it as I was up a few months back and the moparts guys posted it on the WIW. I think he was asking closer to $8K for it that time. It does not look real bad except that quarter damage. That would not be cheap to fix compared to other sheetmetal on it.

Really? Probably not bad for a GT.

Do you paint a rebuilt engine after it goes in the engine bay? See the brackets and the overspray on the rearward heater hose. And you know there's oodles of rust waiting to say hi under that top.

These aint rabbit turds...

I wonder what that rust would look like under the back window moulding too as he even says that it has rust there but does not picture it. But he shows the other rust area on the roof which do look rough under that top. Car has alot going for it for color and being a gt but the rust and damage might doom it. There has to be a reason why he did not start it. I bet the deeper you dig on it the tougher it gets. IMO it actually makes Dan's V code look more interesting at $10K than this one at $5k. If a one of 666 is "wanting" around $5k what is a one of a handful worth? I am sure you would be way upside down on either car done right but I think the V code would be worth the extra buy-in to have one of the only ones. :poke:

I contacted the guy the first time it came around months ago. Nice guy. He has trunk pan, top (I think) and other sheetmetal for it to replace the quarter panel damage and rusty areas, which are considerable, and then who knows what other rust will show up (isn't it always worse than you think?). He broke off a key in the ignition switch as I recall, so the car can not be steered, hence one reason why he says it must be trailered. For the work involved, I couldn't see it as viable at that price, and then for me, the lack of a/c did it in. But interesting colors at least and some nice options.

just ad an AC to it. You will find all the parts needed easily. I will support you :))

Were those roof seams lead in 1970 or filler?

I'm pretty sure they're lead. The bigger reason there's rust under the vinyl is that there's no paint (enamel primer) under the vinyl. The Chrysler guys must have all laughed like hell, knowing that (a) putting a vinyl roof on a car was cheaper than painting it, and (b), they charged big bucks for it as well.

If you were in the market it would have to be worth a look at least. You just don't see that many come up for sale but at the same time you don't want to run yourself broke trying to fix it.

I wish I had the money and time to restore it. I'd get a license plate number 1OF666. I'd either get thumbs up or people thinking I was the beast and then praying for me in a most pompous and useless manner.
