We're having an issue with the headlights on the '70 Sport Fury I'm buying.

Here's the issue:

Yeah, so about the headlights... they actually work so well that they don't shut off! If I have the battery disconnected for a while, they'll work normally for about 30 seconds, turning on an off with the switch but then they'll just stay on. Also, the headlight doors will work normally as well, but after a short period they'll pop open when the key is turned on. My theory is that it's due to the two relays in the circuit: A concealed headlight relay and a headlight delay relay. I have no experience with these relays, but it seems like the most logical problem area.

Any ideas here? Was also thinking it might be the headlight switch as well.

Thanks for the help.

There is a headlight door relay near the switch, but that just controls the doors, not the headlights, so I doubt if that is the problem. There was an optional headlight delay relay and it should be mounted on the firewall near the fuse block. Just unplug it to try.

Do you have a FSM for this car? Download one here: MyMopar - Mopar Forums & Information - Service Manuals

That will have the wiring diagrams that should help.
