Classic 1971 Mercury Marquis. High compression 429 V8. (Arizona car)

New in the last 10k miles:

Edelbrock Performer intake, Holley 4 barrel carb, Summit HEI ignition, alternator, battery, fuel pump, heater core, muffler/exhaust, control arm bushings, coil-over front shocks, rear air shocks, custom fabricated tow hitch, transmission cooler, vinyl top removed, texturized paint on roof.

Paint is good, no rust, original interior is in great shape. Runs very strong. I've driven this car all over the west with no problems. Recently (last 200 miles) started to not shift into second gear. Still drives fine and cruises down the highway like a dream, but needs that checked out. (C6 transmission)

I have over $7000 into the car. I was looking to sell for around $5500 before the transmission issue, but ready to make a deal. $4000 OBO I'm ready to pass this survivor onto someone who can love it as much as I have.

Consider partial trade for GMC Safari / Chevy Astro. God Bless America, beautiful American Iron.:unitedstates:

When I signed up to this forum it was my understanding that this was a place for Mopar. Specifically C body Mopars. Now I'm all for brand loyalty and I respect each person's opinion on what machine you want to run. But we all could've told this poor sap long before he dumped his hard earned coin into this rag FE Ford he would've been way ahead had he scored a B or an RB with a 727 torqueflite Chrysler setup.

With all do respect BigCRig, I for one will pass on this blue oval survivor cuz I ain't got no love!

It is perfectly fine to post in the "Non C-body stuff for sale" section as this was.

we're all car enthusiast, no matter what brand

I appreciate seeing these anytime, especially when they're this nice.

Add me to the list.

If its:
Big

Classic
American

Hard for me not to like them in one for or another.
At the juncture of my entrance into the automotive world, I could have gone down several paths. It turned out to be Mopar because my father had one.
If he had a Biscayne or a Galaxie, I'd probably be writing this in a different forum right now.

Interesting car to me because of personal history. One of my high school group had a 69 429-4v Gran Marquis (360 hp I think?). It was faster than a 67 Newport 383 2 bbl w/ 2.94 gears,faster than a 67 Monaco 383 2 bbl w/ 3.23 gears, but slower than a 68 Sport Fury 383 4 bbl w/ 3.23 gears(mine).
It looks like the owner but lots of love in this car. That sounds like a good deal.

I was happy to click on this thread, just to go back to '72 when Detroit made cars this big and this cool. Also a pleasure to think about the indignation a tree-hugger would feel seeing this listing!

My father had a 1970 Olds 98 with the 455 engine for one year as a company car. That was a really cool and fast car. I was 16 and still look for those. He also had a 64 Galaxie 500 also and both were blue with white vinyl tops. Sat in the back seat of the Galaxie and drove from Maryland to Los Angeles in June 1966 when he got a job transfer. The back seat held three kids 12, 10 and 7. Wish we had a wagon for that trip.
