1971 Plymouth Fury Custom Suburban - $7,500 - Denver, Colorado

FB Description

Big Red Car! Plymouth Custom Suburban (obviously not a Colt, but Fury or Custom Suburban isn't a listed option). It was just driven out of storage, where it has been for 32 years. It's a complete, totally original car driven mostly on family vacations. It's a rare vehicle, and was uncommon even when it was new. The paint isn't faded, but there are lots of small dents and scratches, some of them in unlikely places, and a bit of rust behind both rear wheels. It has the 360 V8, automatic transmission, air conditioning, roof rack, the works. There's lots of tread on the radial tires, but they are very old. Mileage is approximate; I'll update that next time I'm visiting the car.

I tried to delete the thread that I started that was a double to this one. It was posted in before I could figure out how to delete.

Thanks Trevor. It's amazing how fast you find some of these things.

My Dad had a new B3 1971 Suburban with no wood grain. I thought that was the best car he ever had. He had a 383 and a Sure Grip Tow Package.

Anything else different about this car?
Seems like one hell of an awesome wagon.

Exception of a 440, but you can't ask for more of a small block.

I’ve been talking to the seller as I am interested in possibly purchasing the car. I had him take the photos of the body plate and such and better photos of the exterior and interior. He sent me more photos privately.

His parents ordered the wagon new and he’s in the process of trying to sell it. He has to figure out the title situation and such.

It has some rot out on lower quarters. Nothing crazy. The body is also covered with random dents and scratches and some surface rust in places where the paint was damaged. My guess is from storage and stuff falling over onto the car. I believe he said the car hasn’t been on the road since 1989. And he believes the mileage is 150k. Front seat and carpet are torn but the rest of the interior is presentable.

Engine runs off a can. Transmission seems to have some issues (possible low fluid) and brakes obviously got problems… he put a new master cylinder on as the original was stuck solid.

That passenger fender is a mess.

He's way overpriced at $11.5K.

Since this one is a flip job, I bet it needs a bunch of other repairs to get it safe and reliable. Doesn't look like the seller has done anything to warrant the doubling of the price he paid.

Jeff
