Last week I trailered this back from North Carolina to central Virginia and am going to undertake a mild restoration since it is in pretty good shape. Solid underside, running 360 with some brakes. There a few missing parts but I have already sourced them all from a yard near me. Looking forward to the adventure.

Curious about that steering wheel? I need something like that to replace the RimBlow on my '70 DH43.

Thanks,

Neat car! Those seats look exactly like what was in my father's 71 Polara 2dr. It was a base Polara. I wonder if there was a similar package offered for Dodge models.

Please explain RimBlow and DH43, I'm not familiar.
Rim blow, the style of steering wheel. You squeeze the wheel itself and it honks. No center button

D - Dodge Full-Size
H - High Price class (Monaco)
43- 4dr pillarless hardtop.

My 19760 Monaco (DH43) has the factory tilt wheel, which came with a Rim Blow steering wheel. Meaning the "horn button" wa a thin piece of rubber on the inner diameter of the wheel. Squeeze the "switch" (rubber) to make the horn sound.

The Chrysler version got hard with age, so it was harder to actuate the horn, PLUS when the ambient temps got above 80* F, it would self-actuate, which also cooked the horn relay. So, I need a wheel that will mate with my tilt column that is NOT a Rim Blow steering wheel.

As to interior/seat pictures "on the web", go to www.hamtramck-historical.com , click on "Library" and then follow the spread sheet to "Interior and Color" for the particular model year of vehicle. Dealer order guides with illustrations and color codes. Might have to copy that address manually.

Perhaps that is why my wheel was replaced? Thanks for the info. You seem to know your stuff. Anyhow, if you have a rimblow I'd be happy to trade like for like. Obviously my Custom would not have tilt

In those model years, Rim Blow was unique to the tilt and tilt/telescope columns. It is NOT nearly as neat and upscale as it sounds. After the switch got hard, it was nearly impossible to squeeze hard enough to make the horn work. Was about as good a punching the center trim on the steering wheel (where the horn button normally would be). Switches are HARD to replace, if you can find a good one!

Ford had them, too, but their switch was much more squishy feeling. The GM rim blow wheels were more "normal" in switch feel.

IF you liked to turn the wheel with your fingers, had to be careful not to honk the horn. Similar if you got "excited" and squeezed the steering wheel rim. Sounded like a good and upscale option, but not in "real world" situations, to me.

When I bought my car in 1975, the horn did not work as the horn relay was fried. I put in a new one and discovered how hard it was to honk the horn. First time the weather warmed up, I was at work and they told me my car's horn was honking. So I just unplugged the relay and fixed that easily, which is when I started to figure things out.

Congrats @The Rum Cove — would you post the fender tag so we can learn more about your car? What’s its history?
