This 1971 Dodge is currently for sale on CL near Port St Lucie, FL. GF7, 1971 Custom, seems like a good price (for a good-running solid car), what's not to like? So, I reached out to the seller to ask for some more photos. He's not willing to post more on CL, or send more pics, instead he only wants folks who will come to see it in person. I am nowhere close, I don't buy cats in bags, so that's that. Here is what I learned:
Here's the truly laconic description from the ad: "Runs great, solid driver."
The seller sounded like a straight shooter. From the phone call: "360. Headliner has been replaced. He redid the driver's seat foam, otherwise the interior is original and all there. He put $5k into the car after getting it from 'what you could say was' the original owner. It was previously used forlaw enforcement (monitoring? surveillance? I am not sure that I caught the exact wording) in Georgia. The car was put in a barn 12 years ago, where it sat before the seller acquired it. He replaced the gas tank, redid the brakes, etc. Converted the A/C to 134a but 'it needs a zap, not gonna lie about it.' One of the rear quarters was redone at some point, 'possibly decades ago' -- metal 'cut/replaced' and 'some overspray' that he said he can see. I asked about rust, he said there may be some under the vinyl but otherwise the car is all solid. I asked about bubbles in the rear quarters, if any, and I was told 'no'. "
If I were closer, I would go and see it. As is, I hope someone gets it and we can enjoy this car. Or, if the police work past can be documented, someone into LE vehicles (assuming that the claim can be verified).
