NOT MINE 1971 Polara

Thank you @66l78rat for posting — tag for @cuda hunter and @69CoronetRT

DE41L1D294037 — from the ad:

Up for sale is my 1971 Dodge Polara, 4-door sedan, 383 cu. in.V-8 engine, 3-speed automatic transmission, 53,425 miles, black & white exterior color w/tan color vinyl/cloth interior and black rubber mat floor covering, original factory A/C car, power steering, power brakes w/front disc, original California car. I have owned the car for many years as did a friend of mine for years before that. At what point the car was outfitted with the police appearance and equipment package or its history of original use as a municipal vehicle, is unknown. No documentation is available or implications being made that it is an original California Highway Patrol (CHP) car.

The car is in beautiful condition though, dutifully garaged and taken out only in nice weather, well maintained and an unbelievable attention getter. The car was professionally repainted many years ago and still possesses a great appearance like you would expect from a car that was used in service and not overly restored. The paint looks great on a clean, straight and what appears to be a zero rust body, shines nicely with very few noticeable blemishes (see pictures). The exterior door graphics are said to be original from CHP stock. The police equipment, siren, radio and radar, electronics, interior map and ticket lights, outside spot lights and rear shelf lights, and gun (was told the firing pin was removed), appear to be period correct. Fully functioning forward red and white spot lights with red and amber rear flashing deck lights, with a working siren. There is a hidden AM/FM/CD player and speakers. A Holley Sniper EFI kit with intake and electric fuel pump were added at a high cost to ensure optimal performance (original factory intake parts were saved and go with car purchase). The interior, trunk and engine areas are in nice condition (see pictures).

The mechanics of the car are in excellent condition. The car runs and drives nice and strong. Engine starts up quiet, shifts and drives great on local roads and at highway speeds. Tires are nice, dual exhaust has a rumble to it but not overly loud, chrome and stainless are in great condition. The underside of the car is solid and in excellent condition with older undercoating present.”

Asking price in the CL ad is $29,850. Milage is 53,425.

It has showed up here for $14,000:

Located in San Mateo California, with milage of 52436.

I'm betting at some point we'll wish we had harvested and posted all the pics on this one.

And now the interior. The seats have been redone, so I will not comment on them, but I am puzzled by the apparent difference between the front and rear interior door panels.

Here's what they ought to look like on the basic Polara interior. Perhaps @polara71 or @71Polara383 or another 1971 Polara aficionado can opine?

I thought them odd also . They've been incorrectly redone. Put a Gazillion dollars into a look-a-like and do that wrong and poorly i might add. Give me a nice brown DE and I'd like it a lot better without the DK wannabe stuff.

Why don't you just ask for them directly? :poke:

I figured you had them if I needed them. In this case I did not need them.

I was lamenting that links to cars get posted and then no pics, or only 1. Only a CL or ebay link, and those evaporate.
Then a year later, the car pops up again somewhere else, we want to remember/reference the car, see if it has improved/deteriorated, but there are no prior pics.
Not every car deserves to have all its pics posted, but the stand-outs should be pretty obvious, and we should capture them.

We're all busy. But IMO, if you're gonna post a car, spend the 5-7 minutes it takes to harvest all the pictures/description onto here.
This is not directed at anybody in particular, todays is just hte day to say something about it.

Could not agree more. I was teasing you as always, but it would be GREAT if folks would post some photos and (if they have it) the fender tag -- and spell the VIN. Makes it so much easier for others to track cars.
