Anyone here know if the carpet sets available for the New Yorker fit the town & Country? I see them available online not sure if the interior dimensions are the same under the first and second row seats.

Thanks

No reason they shouldn't be, It's the same floor pan. The hump over the rear axle will be the same also. Your issue will be on the flat surface behind the 2nd bench to the T-gate, but even there most supplierz will sell extra matching yardage. Jer

Couple more questions as I am still waiting on the manual to arrive. My rear window is inoperable. I'm assuming the motor is shot. Is the power window motor for the new Yorker side window the same model that operates the rear window in the wagon? And has anyone replaced on of these? I cant see how one would go about it without removing the entire regulator mechanism.

It's been a long time since I worked on a Fusey wagon, so don't quote me. The motor should be like a regular door one. The last one I did was on a Formal wagon, but they didn't change things much.

You'll need to pull out the regulator to get the motor out. I prefer opening the doorgate as a tail gate to do this...that way you won't be fighting gravity with the glass. To do that you need to first open it as a door, then pull the inner panel off.

Inside, you'll need to find a metal rod, like the ones that actuate the inner door mechanisms. The rod you wand run vertically to the bottom of the door. It's job is to prevent the door from being used as a gate when the glass is up. Once you find it get inside the car with a buddy outside the car to help.

Once inside with the inner door panel still off, push down on the rod to simulate that the glass is down. Then open the door as a tail gate. Use your assistant to help gently lower the tailgate because with the glass up the balance is off and it will want to crash down, likely damaging things. You'll need to crawl out one of the back door to avoid smashing the tailgate glass.

Once you have it open as a tailgate, it will be easy for you to do the replacement.

If you need pics, I have a parts Formal tailgate that I can take pics of- but you'll need to wait until the weekend when I'm off.

Thanks Mr. C. Can I open the door without lowering the glass on a 1971 T & C? It looks like the glass is sandwiched between the upper window opening in the weather strip. If so that would make things much easier. I have the panel off but trying to work in that space upside down is a challenge.

As I recall the 71 has no outside handle for the door gate- only a spot for the key. So you are very dependent on the glass going up or down to be able to work the door gate.

Open the gate like this:

Pull the inner panel off and find the rod I described above that permits the use as a gate.

Hop in the car with a friend outside to help lower the gate. Actuate the rod and pull the inside handle over to "gate".

Then lower the gate like this...the only difference for you is that your glass will still be hanging out.

thanks for the reply. My color samples should be here and let the project commence.

And as long as you're in there, check the drive pucks. Then search for Mr. C's drive puck replacement thread.
