Ok, some slides of a local dealer's car show in San Diego. Taken in March 1972 at the Fashion Valley Mall in Mission Valley. I had just bought my first real camera and Minolta SR-T 101 and was shooting with Kodachrome 25 for possibly the first time.

This is the first time I have actually seen my pictures in full size. Noticed a few interesting quirks in some. Didn't shoot any Japanese cars at the show. There weren't any full size cars present and being 18 I was really only concerned with the muscle cars.

I am drawn to that 72 Grand Torino Sport, must be the color combo. Thanks for posting the pics, reminds me that I was born a bit too late!

thanks for the great pics.
I would like to have the TB3 blue 72 Road Runner !

Had a yellow Capri like that with the V6. Ran circles around the Pintos and Vegas so popular at the time.

Nice pictures. It's odd to see missing trim at a new car show. I wonder what happened to the "RI". That just jumped out at me.

I noticed that too. Like I said I hadn't looked at these since shot in 1972 and did so by hand so that detail would be missed.

Here is another one. Did anyone noticed that very dapper fellow looking at the Pantera? San Diego was pretty much ground zero for casual in California back then. Lots of Hawaiian shirts, shorts and sandles. That was my usual attire at SDSU except I preferred tennis shoes. Went out to restaurants like that in Mission Beach and Pacific Beach into La Jolla. Even dressed that way when I started grad school at UC Berkeley before I realized I was the only person wearing a Hawaiian shirt on the entire campus and the weather could be unpredictably cool at a moments notice. Anyway, that fellow looks like a proper British gentleman.

I remember These Special editons. A bit too fancy for my personal taste.
