Wow, interesting post, hope it doesn't end up in a demo derby. I guess it was priced to sell. :)

thats the problem with pricing too low, you jeopardize the car to the derby guys. Too high and no one calls and everyone here bitches that it is too high

So heres the question, why would somebody buy it for $850 then derby it? Maybe i'm out of touch, but Is the first prize to win one of those really that much money these days?

I would think that buying it for $850, and winning a demo derby with it and earning maybe $200 is a losing proposition.

Now maybe winning $2500-$3,000 i could see why somebody would do that.

They reuse the car over and over again. They travel to the higher pay shows.

I guess it depends on your area. A few people say that a Crown Vic is better. I don't derby so I have no clue.

I say spread that rumor until they believe it as fact that the crown vic is a better derby car than an old C body. Tell em the vicky has a full frame no unibody make is harder to kill. Cops loved em cause they were tough.

Plus they usually have specific built derby engines, you don't need a lot of power because they are on mud, just has to run very hot for long periods. SBC and some 318s are favorites, cheap plentiful and cracked heads usually do not go to water so they can stay in a while.
They will sell the 400 and trans for half of what they are into the car for radiator/gas tank interior sales are just bonus money. Then they will waste countless hours welding like 2 big spools of mig wire or 2-3 boxed of rods into the frames and body whatever the rules will allow.

The only good from this is the countless hours they spend F+++Ing with these derby cars is that much less time they spend having sex and reproducing, or out breaking the law and getting thrown in jail taxing the system. So in some small way it may better our lives.

Yes derby dummy I'm talking about you, there is a picture of your sad life.

I remember watching a video i think it was on discovery channel this hayseed in the midwest had a huge metal storage building full of late 60s thru mid 70s chevy impalas. He boasted of the 74 impala 2 door he just bought that had like 38K on the odometer. Car was a garage kept creme puff. He rolled it into the building with all the rest. All were future derby cars. Then he said something about having to drive further and further to find them. I just shook my head. During the show they filmed him making one of these into a derby car, destroying it, and then pulling the engine and trans out, and putting the remains on a flatbed to take to the scrap metal place. What a total waste.

Yep real mental midgets mouth breathers.

Real smart to slam all the derby guys. They have a lot of good parts to sell. Plus at least they send the car out with some glory instead of rotting away behind your garage. Just my opinion.

And that's perfectly fine to let yours rot. I just don't get why it's ok to slam other people for doing something different with theirs. Anyway, that sure is a sweet looking 72 Newport!
