A highway patrol car with a 318? In wide open North Dakota? Maybe Oahu, but not North Dakota.

The neighborhood doesn't look French at all. And weakly engined two door Hardtop Highway patrol cars are rather unlikely as well.

The North Dakota Highway patrol Plymouth that stopped me in 1972 definitely was not a 318 car! Unless 318's can run by at 125+ with ease.

A coupe was an unusual choice for most police departments and state patrols then; though not unheard of. In the '80s, cop Mustangs and Camaros were common. Every single cop car I remember from the '60s and '70s in Colorado were four-doors. OK, there were the SAABs that were used in Vail, Colorado for a short time.

White coupe, no trim, spot light and one light, and came with a guy in a bad mood. I was running 125, and he blew by me like I slammed on the brakes. Being military, he grilled me extensively. My buddy had a 340 Demon, and he got the treatment as well.
we were both 20 at the time, and lucky the cop cooled down. back then the USAF would have been tough on us if that episode got back to the base. my 66 Polara 383 ran reall well, but it couldn't compete with a 440hp Plymouth.

No, I have experienced both and the 440 certainly has the upper hand. Sounds like a fun experience which is what life is all about

Police departments loved the Plymouth 67-72, light weight, long wheel base, but shorter than the Dodge, 120 vs 122.and very stable. A Fury weighed in at around 3,800 lbs with a 440, Lighter than the dodge or Chrysler. A 70' Fury 440 six barrel, now that was a balanced and hard running car!
