When delivering equipment to a patient's house, I saw a 1973 Charger in his neighbor's driveway. When I approached the car, the owner came out of his house and began talking to me about it. He said he bought it new in '73. It is totally unmolested and even has the original hub caps. It is optioned down, but it does have power steering and brakes (front drums). It's a 318 - 2 barrel /904 car. The rust is significant, but not impossible to overcome. I have seen worse. The subframe is heavily rusted at the biscuits in the rear, but the attaching points on the body appear intact. The torsion bar boxes appear to be in pretty good condition. I do not know the owner of this car, but I owned a '71 SE years ago and have a fondness for B-bodies. I would hate to see this car go to waste. It runs pretty decently (he fired it up for me) and allegedly it drives, but I would definitely trailer it home because of the rust on the subframe. It can likely be had for less than $1000. He said he was offered $300 by somebody for it, and said he wanted more for it. When I asked how much more, he was a bit coy, but I have bought enough cars from enough people to get a feel for what their expectations are. The way he spoke of the initial offer convinced me that it could be snatched up for a pretty low number (though you'll have to do better than $300). I would buy it, but I have too many vehicles as it is, and I do not do body work (yet). It is brown and had a half vinyl roof with white interior (which looked pretty much intact). The half vinyl roof was removed years ago and that area was painted over. It looks decently done, and there is no rust in that area, as far as I can tell. I would have taken more detailed photos, but I did not want to intrude, and I was working at the time.

If that car had been here nearby I would have snapped it up, but the tyranny of distance kills it for me.

73 74s arent as sleek as 71 72s.

I mean this is just Un-Holy.

73-74 Dodge Chargers? you can find them all day long out in the NJ pine barrens; backyards, driveways (if there is one) or unattached garages. Heck, I used to go on long aimless rides through the piney lands and take snap shots of them out of boredom.

I don't usually get into the price forecasting arena as I'm usually way out of my league on cars here and that includes this one. Even though it's a b body I'm not into these but that'd be a good buy for a driver. The 73-4s are not really in demand and supply exceeds the demand there is. If it could be had for that price and rust is not real bad and interior is all there and not horrible a profit could possibly be made but wouldn't think of making a bunch on it.

If the 318 is stock, it should have front disc brakes. This would be a good ad for the B-body site; I would duplicate it or link to it if I were a member there.
I am not a member there either. I was hoping someone would do just that. As far as the disc brakes are concerned, I would agree. Maybe they were rusted over from sitting and looked like drums from the outside. I peeked through only briefly.

I had no idea! I go through the pine barrens every day for work, and I live on the outskirts of them. I have not seen one yet. I will keep my eyes open for them.
