I have a chance to get the front brake set up off a 1973 C body wagon, $200.00 if I pull the parts plus I figure $40.00 for fuel. I have $280.00 in my car fund so what do you guy's think, is it worth it?

Yes. The worst thing that can happen is that you easily can sell them for what you at least paid for them.

I wasn't sure what the going rate was, this seems to be one of the more popular up grades for the older models. I thought while I've got everything apart might as well do the swap.

The discs are worth the upgrade. The drums will also perform well if scrupulously maintained. The discs are do 'em and forget 'em, especially if you use Dot 5 fluid.

Sorry I wasn't clear in my first post, my car is a 1972 with power disk brakes, but I see a lot of people switching to the 73 style when they can. Is there an improvement in braking? Are the 73 one piece rotors that much cheaper?

If you totally redid your present 72 front discs, how many more times do you expect, in your lifetime, to do them again? Never.
I'd save the cost of switching to 73's by investing in your 72's.

Plus, what condition are your rotors now? is there plenty of meat to take a grind? One doesn't HAVE to replace rotors necessarily.

You saying save $200 and rebuild the existing manual brakes to top-notch condition which will work just as well?

Nope, just saying if thats what he needs its a good price.

However, depending on what is done with the car your quote is accurate

Thanks for the input, at the moment the 72 brakes need new rotors and I plan to rebuild both calipers (one is frozen.)
