"Wrong distributor location"....you prefer the 318 in that wagon? I've seen more of those (318/360 wagons) than those with bb power.Wrong side of PA and wrong distributor location for me to try and swing it. sigh
Ahh, its obviously not as stingy as a small block, but its really not THAT bad. I find that constant stop and go driving (city driving) does kill the mileage, but we did pretty good driving out to Carlisle...mostly highway drive from here to there. I was impressed.I appreciate the BB power, not the BB mileage.
Your van weighs four tons? Our four ton van barely cracks ten around town with a SB.
Yeah, I was thinking if thats total dry curb weight (4 tons) that's a mighty big *** van....with a 318, no wonder gas mileage is shitty.1985 B350 Maxivan GVW is 8,500 lbs, now whether that is GVWR (maximum weight limit) or GVW (actual curb weight) I do not know, but the point is that the mileage sucks either way.
Edit- Now that I'm thinking about these numbers a second time, two tons of Vehicle weight and two tons of carrying capacity is making a lot more sense.
We got this one from a place that rented it out along with canoes and a canoe trailer, so it got beaten on pretty hard. The rear end needed replaced and the 727 needed a rebuild (slipped, bad) and the shop said the tranny didn't have another rebuild left on it. When we first got it, the mileage was 11 & 9. After our best tune by hear/feel and a new Qudrajet it does 11 around town and got a pinch over 15 doing 70 on the turnpike. We had a couple of B350s at work. The mileage on the 360 was at least as good as the 318. With all the supplies we ran over 7000 lbs.
