Anyone out there have a 73 Suburban, Custom Suburban or preferably a Sport Suburban wagon for sale in at least fair to good shape? Not afraid of some restoration if the body is still more or less in 1 piece. I'll make an attractive offer if I can find one in nice shape. Oh, and I'd like to find one that is, um, not that gross green color that Chrysler so loved in those days:toilet04:.

BTW, a side note for all you Mopar fans out there who remember your trigonometry: when both sides of a 45-degree triangle are 225 inches long, the hypotenuse is 318 inches long! Of course! Would the gods have it any other way?:icon_thumright:

Has there ever been a cooler wagon than this body style?

Welcome to the site from the Motor City! Good luck with your search.

No. I found my 1970 Custom Suburban last October and I can't wait to get it out of winter storage in April. Good luck in your search. Mine left the factory in what you call "gross green" (lime green metallic), but was repainted white by the previous owner 2 years ago (photo in green is my car in 2009).

Interesting. Does your car still have the green interior?
If so, how did they handle the paint at the exterior/interior transition? Looking at, say, the A-post and sitting behind the wheel with the driver's door open, where does the white end and the green start? Could you post some more pictures? Thank you

I wonder why you would prefer the 1973 model over the 1972 model? The front of the 1972 Sport Suburban was the best ever, especially compared to the 1973, at least in my eyes.

The interior is still green. The door jambs were all done in white, as well as under the hood, and the top of the door frames (only seen when a door is open). If it was painted green it is now white except for the inside of the tail gate and the inside of the door frames which you see while in the car with the doors closed. I like white, but I'd rather have it be the factory color, or a least a decent job of painting it white. This paint is a 3 out of 10 at best.

The 73 Sport Suburban wagon was the first car I owned when I was a teenager. So it has a lot of fond memories. I agree the hide-away lights on the 72 are cool, but to me the front of the 73 looks like a happy face, and those were happy times in my life.....:eek:s_dancing2:

That's how most of us got here

When I get frustrated, I curse my father for not being a Chevy man.

My Father was an equal opportunity curser, as he cursed at his 63 Rambler 770 Cross Country wagon when the 2 way rear door fell off after 1 week (bought it new, and even hit with a two handed ax swing with a snow shovel when it got stuck at the cabin one winter); cursed at his used 78 Pontiac Safari wagon when it wouldn't start in sub 32 degree weather; and severely cursed his 70 Custom Suburban wagon when he and the dealer could not figure out why it overheated all the time after 50k miles (bought it new in 70, parked it in 80 out of frustration, and gave it away in 87). I have continued the family tradition by getting quite frustrated with my 70 Custom Suburban when the brakes completely failed (rear rust through brake line) and the alternator seized (snapping 2 brand new belts), all in the first 100 miles of owning/driving it.
