1976 DODGE TRADESMAN VAN

Selling my 1976 dodge tradesman van. 318 engine with aftermarket 4bbl carb. Just replaced all the belts, hoses, retuned carb, and other engine maintenance. Van has been garage kept for most of its life so there is no rust on the body or frame. It has been very well maintained its whole life. The van has no issues other then needing a new speaker and a new speedometer cable or gear, I have just not had time to replace them. Inspected until October 2018. dual side exhaust, chain-link steering wheel, aftermarket deck, seat storage that is able to be folded out into a bed, cabinet space, refrigerator, table that can taken out, rear interior vintage lighting. The shag interior is in perfect condition, along with the finished wood cabinets and ceiling. The pervious owner was obviously really into ACDC so the van has "dirty deeds" painted on the side along with an album cover framed inside the van. I am very hesitant about selling it so please don't even try to low ball. This van will honestly get you anywhere you need to go. I've driven to Florida and back with no issues at all and am only selling since I am moving.

I prefer text or email since I do work a lot but will return calls when available.

Oh, Tradesman!! I saw Transman and was thinking Transvan - the Campers that were built on Dodge chassis.

Transman... I thought CL was doing away those kind of ads?

That reminds me of being stupid teenager and seeing an ad for a "6 man hot-tub" in the Tradin' Times. Of course me and my idiot friends called the guy in our best flamer-voices and asked questions like "Will it fit six burly men, or just six skinny guys?" which ended with him yelling "I'm not GAY!!!" and slamming down the phone.

...to all of our moronic teenaged laughter.

I remember the "Street Van" craze that Dodge started. They single handedly ruined the prices for any commercial operator being able to purchase a simple van for them conduct their business in. Great strategy for Dodge... bad for the plumbers, carpet installers etc. My dad was one of them. Everybody and his brother were buying the Tradesman to make into a rolling "Love Shack" LOL.

Prices went nuts.

I always thought they were pretty cool specially when they had a mural on the side.

I like them...Kind of a guilty pleasure. A few years ago I was talking to a couple of younger colleagues and somehow the phrase, "If this van's a rockin, don't come a knockin'" came up and they didn't know what I was talking about. I had to google custom street vans to show them pictures. The only thing wrong with this one is the rear side windows should have been tear drops or pentastar shaped.

Fun fact... I have a 1975 or '76 Dodge full line catalog that is the same as the US version, but captioned in Arabic. That image is used in the catalog. I was very surprised to see it.

This was either a colossal mistake and those catalogs were never actually used (which is why I found them laying in a box in Highland Park) or it may have been destined for an Arab market considered sufficiently westernized for such an image. Knowing that Iran and Iraq were the most secular Arab-speaking countries at that time, these markets (and perhaps Turkey) were the only places I could imagine them being used.

Fun fact #2... We sold a lot of Vipers into Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) markets (United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar and Kuwait) but by that point, our own American PC Feminazi's made sure there no women in bikini's used in marketing pieces.

I may be a Contrarian here, but the idea of laying in the sand, with anyone, is absolutely unappealing to me!!! Just imagine all the sand in that guy's shirt!!! Then, imagine trying to drive that van off that sand bar - going to be a lot of fun!

No!!! Give me the mountains any day of the week!
