The vin say's it'a 440. Do you think the motor has been swapped out?

Maybe it is a 440 then.

It's just that I see that the engine is a smogger.
I thought only the 400's were smoggers.

All I see is that the E.G.R timer hasn't melted all over the firewall/heater box....... yet..:duckie:

440's were standard for 1976/1977 NY'ers, 400's and 360's optional.

400's was standard for 1978 NY'ers, 440's and 360's were optional.

Those wheels. Those FN wheels........... :soapbox:

The wheels can be changed. But how much has been f'd up with lowering the suspension? One thing to wind the t-bars back up, what did they bugger up at the back?

And I'm pretty sure it's a 400...
Vin says "T", IIRC that's a 440.

I said that I thought it was a 400 because I saw th ps pump was the style that was used if it had the smog pump which I thought meant that....
Oh, never mind. Sometimes a LITTLE knowledge is a dangerous thing. lol

My 400 didn't have a smog pump. The bracket was there to mount one. I don't think I've ever seen a 400 with a smog pump.

One of the worst smog motors I ever saw was a California emissions 440 in a 75 Imperial. Air pump, the works. That poor engine was strangled with all that schtuff.

I've seen a 440 smog motor emission diagram in my 78 service manual. I was and still am shocked with all the emission components, hoses, etc, on it.
