Been meaning to write this one for over a week!

In a local junk yard here in Chico, CA, there is a '77 Dodge PU with a factory 440 in it, still with its Thermoquad carb. It's all there and not modified in any way. I have no idea of the condition, or the price the yard would want for it. But, if any of you would be interested in it I'll find out. Let me know.

A fellow just a couple miles from me bought a 77 Dodge "HI-cube" van with it's original 440 still in place. He got it to use as a storage shed and told me I could have the 440 and trans for $400.00 if I pulled it out myself.

Will, will you have the opportunity to get it running before you pull it? It always makes a big difference in my mind when I have seen something run vs. a supposed good engine. Given his use, I assume trying out the transmission is out of the question... $400 seems to be about on the money for what I have seen pop up on CL... too much more may be ambitious. I consider already pulled stuff to be a build core unless I have a great deal of faith that the seller recently had it running good... but you know at least as much as me and probably more about these drivelines.

Jeff,
I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem with him if I attempted to run it. I just see it as a good core. I really have no use for it and figure it's being stored well enough in the truck until I might need it.

OK, let's try to be clear. After all, the original post about a motor's availability was posted by me. The truck still has its transmission too.
