1978 Chrysler Newport 4dr Hardtop - $1,000 - Forest Grove, Oregon

FB Description

Its actually a Chrysler Newport, not a new Yorker. But facebook didnt have an opinion for a newport. So here's the deal, the car had been parked since 1998, I pulled it out of the BlackBerry bushes where it sat for 23 years, washed it, cleaned out a quite I bit of the interior, but I think I'm wanting to move on to something else. Carborator is stuck so I've been soaking it with BP blaster the last few days. Car has rust spots, back sections on hard top by rear window have significant rust but will be easy to patch with sheet metal or body filler. Floor pans in surprisingly good condition, one spot has rust but it's completely repairable without major intervention. I believe the vehicle has a bad ground somewhere becuase most of the electrical equipment in the car is not working. I bought it from the original owners grandson, car has been in the family since new from the lot. I have a bill of sale, registration, and lost title paperwork. $1000 FIRM

Been seeing this one around. More elaborate desciption now. But the bill of sale and lost title application dont mean squat. It has to be signed by the registered owner. Sk many cars like this out here. They usually say easy to get title. Well that's what they thought when they drug it home but they know better now.
Looks like he has street parking. I'm wondering if he may get less firm on the price.
The commies out here have reimplemtented the police force and they are making up for 9 months of lost revenue.
Maybe not so much in Forest Grove though.

It's always:
Easy fix
Cheap to repair
Minor [fill in the blank here]
I believe....

I'm sick of the bullshit sellers.

One town over from me. It's a goner in that shape and with no paperwork. Also, in this part of Oregon it would have to pass a smog test to be registered. (anything newer than '75 has to be DEQ'd) So, she's probably going to end up a derby car or big block donor for something else.

The front and rear bumpers alone are worth almost $1k.

I would like to have the 400 and trans assuming it has one. If somebody else wanted parts I would entertain dragging it home. I may try to get my eyes on it I'm not on facebook but I have some idea where it is sitting.

I'll be honest, based on the limited perspective outside, doesn't actually look that bad for a fixer-upper. Not particularly pleasant but wouldn't be too hard to fix the outside aesthetic bits. Interior looks nice too. I'd be most concerned about the frame. Rusted trunk is usually a sign of a nasty surprise underneath. I'm a believer in inspecting cars before buying anyways, so I wouldn't dare touch it without looking over every nook and cranny.

e: Based on lack of title though....Ehhhhh, not really worth the headache. It's a dealbreaker for me on that alone, but speaking from a purely mechanical and outside perspective, looks fine to me (notwithstanding possible frame issues).

I got a chance to swing by on my way home and get a look at this car. The owner happened by and we talked about it for a while. He was a nice guy and told me what he knew about the car.
It's a 360 car I was hoping to find a 400.
If anybody has any questions I may be able to help with please p.m. me
