Hi I'm looking for this radio working or not it's for a 78 New Yorker Brougham.

You'll probably never find one that's working.

They had lots of problems.

Our '78 New Yorker had that radio. Seven years old and less than 30K on the car and the sliders went bad plus the internal battery failed. You could still buy repair parts back then and we were able to fix it, but I think another part failed some time later, so I installed a late 80's Chrysler radio in the car.

There was one of those radios for sale at Carlisle this year.

Probably can’t get the kits to fix them now. I found a guy that is in the process of fixing my radio and you’re right about the battery that ruined one of the boards. I’m just looking for Parts radio. I know it’s a gamble if I can find one that didn’t have the battery in it leak all over the board.

That battery is likely going to be the death of all of those radios.

We took the battery out of ours when we replaced the sliders and ran wires to an external 9 volt battery in the glove box. The battery just powers the memory for the station presets. It really wasn't even necessary in the first place.

Yes I was going to delete the battery.
