Seems well worth it (upon inspection etc) until you add $1500 transport fee for me in Wisconsin.......now not worth it to me.

Didn't they come with a VW or Audi 4 cyl. engine ? Never cared for the design.

I love these things....always wanted one. I learned to drive stick in one at the dealership in 83. Obviously it's not high on the priority list

I know a certain guy named Jer with a big soft spot for these.

Mornin' Matt. For the unwashed masses. Mother badged just over 40,000 Dodge Rampagez in '82. '83, and '84. She also badged just under 4,000 as Plymouth Scamps in '83 only. Every one came from the factory with a 2.2L 84 HP 2 bbl carb 4 cylinder engine. Some of us thought that 84 HP wasn't quite enough tho', lol

Oh, and Pete. As a way of having you look at these little truckletz the way some of us do. What make model, and year of production can you have delivered to your front door that is 25 yearz old AND RUST FREE, cool in the summer, toasty warm when the white crap flyz, getz 25mpg, and maybe 5 mpg more from one end of I-94 to the other end for $3500 buckz. My co-workerz used to laugh at me for driving a '63 Valiant /6 to work year after year and I'd laugh rite back at 'um for trading their $40,000-$50,000 chebby duallyz every 2 yearz just to let 'um sit in the parking lot 'til the acid rain ate the clear coat off 'um so they could go do the same thing again. I've got a car-but in Tacoma that haz one for hiz own pleasure az well az his Wife and all three Daughters running around the entire state of Washington in those FWD Sidewinderz. Prettiest pic yeah ever saw with all 5 sittin' in the same driveway. Yeah just can't help gettin' all warm 'n fuzzy seein' that fleet. BTW, I'm on my 4th GT Scamp rite now and 1st completely rust free one all the way from Helena, Mt. to my front door 'bout 12 yearz ago and where ever I go it goez too, Jer

You and I must have worked at the same place.

The one I enjoyed the most was a guy who worked 60 hrs every week so he could buy big flashy toys on credit. This scumbag just took on a $600/mo. 7 year payment to buy a LWB pimped out new Suburban when he got fired for "stealing time" (doing nothing for several hours to pad his overtime).
We all laughed like hell.
Stupid kid.

OK, guys, let's get the VW-engine thing straight. Only the '78 - '82 Horizon and Omni had the VW 1.7L (then the Peugeot/Simca 1.8L) engines available. From 1983 MY on, it was the US-built 2.2L. The Rampage NEVER had the early engines. And the Mitsu 2.6L was NEVER available in the L-bodies (what you see in front of you).

Quoting Allpar.com: All (Rampage/Scamp) used the 84 horsepower four-cylinder 2.2 liter engine with two-barrel carburetor; this provided quick acceleration for the day, and the torque bias of the engine helped responsiveness with a loaded bed.

Plus, the "K"-cars came out in the 1981 MY, and the VW & Peugeot engines were never in those, either. The Aries/Reliant had either the 2.2L/2.5L US Four or the Mitsu 2.6L Silent Shaft Hemi Four, depending on the year (1981 - 1989).
