UPDATE: Colorado State Patrol have revealed that the driver of the crashed 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat was 34-year-old Lance Utley. He was traveling along Riverdale Road with two passengers when he lost control of the car and crashed into a tree. Authorities have confirmed that there were no injuries, and that they are charging the driver with careless driving.

Deliveries of the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat only commenced a month ago but the injury toll is already mounting. The crash involving this lime green example is easily the worst so far; it happened on a stretch of road in Colorado.

There is little information surrounding the events but it is believed the owner only picked up the car from the dealer an hour before it ended up like this. Some information from the scene suggests the car skidded off the road near a bend and crashed head-on into a tree.

Fortunately, we hear no one was seriously injured. The same can’t be said for the car; as this image from Facebook page shows, this 707-horsepower muscle machine is likely to be a complete write-off.

We’ve driven the new Challenger SRT Hellcat and found that it delivers performance that will leave even those used to powerful cars awestruck, so this sad sight serves as an important reminder for buyers of such cars to always factor in their own skills and consider whether the cost of performance driving course should be included in their price estimations. It’s also a good reminder for everyone to stay safe over the Christmas and New Year break.

Saw this on Moparts 12 hours ago.... did you read about the one that was traded in after 13 miles were put on it?

I want one

Yeah, me too kinda. I dont like the 15s.... to much. I like the front and grille which is the way the original concept was supposed to be. I definitely dont like the interiors, I'm very happy with my 10' R/T

all I'd really be interested in is the drivetrain... and possibly the rear cradle and suspension, I'm sure I could find a use for it...

I can imagine the BS excuse the dumb *** gave the police and the insurance company.

You'll see more of this. The number of Vipers totaled after just a few miles is staggering.

Ah Riverdale rd. used to flog the cars there all the time. very fun road but if you wanna go fast you have to know the road and car very well. it was the location of one of the two fatal crashes I've witnessed. lots of off camber and rapid elevation changes so for g force junkies it's lots of fun.

What a Jackass. It's winter and the roads are freezing here in Colorado. Your tires aren't going to handle the same and to go that crazy on a small two lane road, is beyond me. I would have driven like a grandma through the break in period and then found a parking lot and went crazy.

I cant imagine having one of these. I had a 09 6speed SRT-8 with a 2.8L kenne bell on it. I bought it brandnew and took it right in to have the blower put on. The car was an animal! The factory F1 supercar tires are really not grippy (I even have them on my 300 now). The car was over 550hp at the wheels. The challengers suffer from aweful wheel hop! When I sold it I had a guy that wanted to buy it for his 16yo for a graduation gift, I refused to sell it to him because I didnt want to read about his kid killing himself and others. I sold the car with only 3100 miles on it to a NFL player in TN. Was really scary to drive esp since the TC was removed during reprogramming, the blower hit like a slede hammer. I thought about getting one but really I think the car is overkill and the LX platform will never handle with that much power for the general public. I agree I think there will be many deaths in this car.

Less dangerous and overkill than a B-Body Hemi car driven that way including all security devices and passenger protection. But today These cars are sold in higher numbers and the Drivers like to blame the manufacturers for their own mistakes.
