That car has been for sale for some time now. Can't get any information out of him either, at least that I could trust. It is clear that the engine has been replaced, so the mileage is really suspect. I think it is really a 71 300 though, based on the interior and other correct factory items such as the tail lights. And the price is too high, especially since you can't get any more out of the guy about the car. He did say their is rust behind the rear window glass.

Thanks for your help !

Tail lights suggested Newport to me...am i wrong ?
I asked a few further pictures, will i get them ? :poke:

As car is in texas, one can hope it's subject to minor rust, but rear window seems to be a weakpoint on these Coupe...

That is Newport trim along the sides and front wheel well. Correction, looks like a '71 300 tail, but I had the same trim on a Newport fender, might be '71 Newport....

Interesting that the photos are taken in such a way that it is really hard to determine if it is a real 300. Also, it almost looks like the driver's floorplan is rusted. Is that lime-gree thing by the passenger seat a sprouting plant? I always worry when they don't show a trunk or engine photo.

First of all, HaggleMe is run by a guy who cruises Craigslist Car For Sale ads from private parties and solicits the seller to let him sell the car for them
So, if the seller is asking $8k, he lists it on HaggleMe for $12k.

If you can spend the time searching on the internet, you may be able to find the owner's original ad and it will probably be much less.

You are correct Stan. When I talked with him he said he would take $8K and not a penny less. But I didn't even consider it because he couldn't answer any of my questions with any credibility. No way I would consider that car without seeing it.

Sorry, but that car is definitely a 71 300 - the grille, which I did see a photo of in the past, the side trim, and the rear tail light lens cover are exactly correct for a 71 300. The only thing about the side trim is that it should also have a ribbed rubber insert on it the full length of the car, but that rubber trim fell off about the third year after production. Few have any of it left anymore. And I saw a shot of the interior in the past too, and the seats are the 71 300 style. I should know since I have several 71 300s that I am hoarding.

I dealt with this scumbag years ago when I inquired about a standard shift Marquis.
Came up with a 1,000 excuses why he couldn't send me more pictures.

Our is it.....:poke:
Maybe it's like that cream colored 73 New Yorker with the bugshield and it will show up in 3 states at the same time lol.

You're right Steve, this one has been on here before and he's nuts. Look at the carpet around the vinyl where your feet rest...Brown and rotted. Check out the spaghetti by the drivers kick panel!
I definitely remember this one...RUN from it!

No, it's in creedmore. The black-over-green one from tucson is sold...

Yep, got the locations mixed up. It is indeed near Austin. But it is the same car/seller I was commenting on. Good luck. You will need it. Seeing it in person is the only safe way to go on this one.

You are correct about the side trim. I remember that from our '71 300. my family had.

I'm going to go look at it tomorrow. Are there specific problem areas that arise, and are there ways to authenticate a 300? Is it a separate model or just a trim package?

Sorry for the simple questions...ask me about a Buick and I'll make it up to you.
