I messed the head gaskets of my 360 while installing them so as I have to disassemble the engine to change them I want to take this opportunity to build it.

This engine is going to be mounted on my '74 Fury for daily driver, I'm satisfied with the stock power from this "smog era" engine but I'll be happier with more bang from the throttle :)

I was thinking about raising the compression ratio to something between 9.0 to 9.5 and a camshaft like this, I'm not sure yet about the pistons because I can't remember if the current bore is 4.000" or 4.020", I'll check it this weekend.

I don't know if could be important but my current heads are stock, the part number is 3769974

If you are running a daily driver, I would keep it closer to 9:1, or even a little less... With our heavy cars, having automatic transmissions and higher gearing, you will be better off with a split pattern cam. That straight pattern cam is way better for an A body. I really like Comp cams, and have them in all but one of our vehicles. Are you running a 4 bbl? Dual exhaust? Can you give us a better rundown of everything done to the vehicle so far?

The engine is mostly stock, it was a 2BBL car and used to have a Holley 2245 but I replaced it with a Carter 625CFM 4BBL with an square bore 4 bbl intake manifold

I'm planning to run headers, dual exhaust and change the TF727 for an A518

I think you will do fine with any dual pattern cam in that basic range. A little smaller will give you more grunt down low, and a little bigger will get you more top end. I have the XE 262 in my truck, and it runs really strong with 3.55 gears in a very heavy vehicle. My son has the XE 256 in his Newport (400/727), and he can burn the tires off with his 3.23 limited slip. I would just get the basic performance rebuild kit from Felpro. Summit Tacing sells them at a reasonable price. You can deck the block or shave the heads a little to get the compression where you want it. Are you doing the rebuild yourself?
