Do you guys know if a 392 hemi would be compatible with a 57 torqueflite trans without adapters.

My 57 300C has the 392 Hemi in it and it is mated to a cast iron torqueflite (not the aluminum 727 trans that came out in 1962). The cast iron torqueflite has an adaptor mounted to the front of the cast iron transmission body to mate properly with the 392 - that was the way the factory produced them (two pieces bolted together). So I am not sure what you are asking (without that adaptor, it could not mate to the body of the cast iron torqueflite and that adaptor houses the torque convertor as well, so it is necessary).

I'm also confused. Are you asking about aftermarket adapters or the OEM factory adapter plate (pictured below)?
392's were only made in 1957 and 1958 so a 1957 a466 pushbutton torqueflite would be the only transmission originally mated to them.
