Hello everyone,

A couple interior questions. I've got a 60 Plymouth Suburban 9 passenger. Working, slowly, on the interior. Car is a project and my plan is a highly detailed interior. Currently have door panels and vinyl/fabrics in the works from SMS.

Im wondering what was used for the footwell in the "way back" 3rd seat area. I dont think it was carpeted, no remaining clues anyway. Considering the spare was back there it seems it may have been a mat. Anyone have a 60 or close to wagon that has the original mat still ?

Also, any idea about the headlining boards ? Mine are warped and 2 missing, a mess in other words....
Thanks for any info !

The 9 passenger wagons had a rubber mat in the footwell. Normally just a simple black textured rubber mat. Typically the cars also were equipped with captive air tires and had no spare. Though some were equipped with spares and had a rare black plastic tire cover.

See this listing of a 1961 Dodge 9 passenger wagon where you can see the flooring and spare tire cover.

Hope this helps.

As far as the headliner. Nobody reproduces them. So you’re left to finding originals, or making new boards and covering with perforated vinyl or something similar.

Quirey Quality Design Did make the headliner, chk with them. Did my 64. the wheel wells I covered in vinyl, and I put carpet inserts on the sides and floor.. SMS door panels, have a drink every time they miss their deadline. You might need a liver transplant.

Thanks guys, appreciate the info. There is a textured rubber insert under 2nd seat visible when you flip bottom cushion forward. Ill get some of that for the footwell. Probably have SMS do it.....I had them do doorpanels for my 65 Newport. Took forever so i know and the wagon is a project so waiting is ok. They've had the panels since June, also the linoleum type stuff for the cargo floor. Meanwhile i have plenty to do. Quiery has been a big help with weatherstripping, ill call about headliner.

My car does have a spare, anchors to tighten down is in footwell floor. Looks like tire slid under the seat. Also found what seems like a hold down for the jack under 2nd seat. Does that make since ? Where are your tires/bumper jacks ?

Don't think I can get the Captive Air tires anymore ! LOL. Did see those mentioned in the owners manual...
