Ohhh don't say that to a mopar truck guy lol!! It's a utabed! I've been corrected several times because I call it a stepside!
"Utiline", maybe another company called them "Stepsides", or it could just be a generic name. I always thought it was generic.

I guess if I'm gonna correct someone, I should double check lol! You are correct sir, utiline it. The stepside I do believe wore bow ties!

Stepside or not it is still a "Sweptline", just because Dodge had the "Utiline" monocular doesn't change the fact that it is still a stepside, I never saw that as a trademarked term by another company. I try to keep out of that discussion in the Sweptline forum.

That's not a Sweptside, it's a stepside.

"Stepside" is a GM-trademarked term for a stepside bed. Dodge/Fargo is "Utiline", and Ford is "Flareside".

Just as for a smooth-sided bed, the GM term is "Fleetside", the Dodge/Fargo is "Sweptside" and the Ford is a term I forget, offhand. The Dodge "SweptLINE" term applies to the 1961 - 1971 years only, inclusive.

Aren't the Fords called "Rustsides" ?

I was not aware that Stepside is a trademarked name, I will add that to the anals of "Styofoam" (polystyrene foam), Band-Aid (adhesive bandage) and "Kleenex" (tissue).

I just know not to use it in a Sweptline forum, elsewhere who cares.

Those same people that lose their minds (like me!) when someone says "Posi" for any limited-slip rear axle!

If it's got a step on the side of the bed.....it's a step side. What the respective manufacturers call their products is their problem. I'm John Q. Public......a wheel is a wheel regardless of what it's attached to. As far as the posi/suregrip distinctions, it's the difference between a 1 wheeler peeler and a cooler ride. Potato.. patato .....

If it's got a bed, it's a pickup truck, why bother with brands like Dodge or Ford ? :D
