I am selling my 1966 Chrysler Newport 2 Door Sport Coupe. Numbers Matching. These are hard to find. One year only car. Most Newport are 4 doors or have the other style top. Original stylish black bucket seat interior, This car is a California survivor. My grandfather bought this car brand new in '66 in Orange County. 383 Big Block, Carter competition series 4 barrel carb, Edelbrock intake, Mopar Performance electronic ignition conversion, High flow factory manifolds (off big block police car) Modified 727 with shift kit( car would actually bark second gear), 8 3/4 rear end with factory posi, Factory A/C, Power steering, power disk brakes (not available on this model, but were converted years ago with factory parts) It also has 2 original big block car factory 15" rally wheels, Smithy's glasspacks, 2.25" exhaust, and flame throwers (yes, flame throwers) Some of these mods were done by my dad and some by me over the years. Not running right now but I did buy a new carb rebuild kit, MSD wire kit, and some other things to put it back on the road. Just about all the trim is off the car (in excellent stored condition) Can be put back on after resto. I even have the original data plate with my grandfathers name on it. Many extra hard to find parts that have been collected over the years.

The car is actually very clean considering its age. Never any major body damage, No rust except the patina thats on the surface of the car. It original color was a Turquois/Teal. It was then painted a dark maroon. Years ago, I primered it with PPG DP90 many years ago. Primer has just about faded off. About 14 years ago, I lowered it and put on the white walls. Can be put back to stock height very easily. This car would look great as a custom, big pro-touring sedan with a set of 20's), or just back to stock. You definitely will not look like everyone else! Use a little imagination and make it what you want.

This is a great opportunity for somebody to buy a great survivor car with an original history on the car. Not very many of these cars that were originally bought in SoCal and still in the original direct family. Car has huge potential!

Asking $4500

Of course, because of all the auctions and tv shows. They hear antique and they think its worth a billion dollars

What is he thinking of to say "one year only car"?
A car of any year is a one year only car.

None of these project cars I listed are worth more than $1000 if even that. Too much damage either done by the owner, the weather or both. The money to put these back into shape would be way more than the car could be ever worth. If you have seen what I have seen in the last few years for $2-3K then you would think I'm generous with the $1000. Of course, I am not back east which has a whole other mentality when it comes to projects not rusted beyond recognition. I will say that the last year has brought crazy people out of the woodwork who think these are "collector's" cars.
