As the title states. Me and my buddy jerry end up in some uhm "interesting " spots getting some of the cars and trucks we have had. So this time we drive up to the murder Capitol of the norther woods of MI . Luzerne MI to be exact. Back in 85 there were some hunters that went up there and went home with a local girl where 2 guys where waiting for them , beat them with bats and fed to hogs. There happened to be 4 more that died up there today in a murder suicide. I found that out on the way home. I pray for the families.
Well back to the reason for the post. Jerry found himself a 67 swept line dodge. He has one himself. Well he went up a couple weeks ago, took some pics, called me up and was very excited about this truck. It's in ruff shape but had some pretty rare parts on it. Its a 67 dodge 3/4 ton camper special. Has all the body trim, chrome bumper, radio with single speaker dash. I don't know I'm not a swept line guy but he says it's got some rare parts. Here's a few pics of today's 9 hr adventure. And if ya wanna know more about the Luzerne murders, google it. Someone wrote a book about it.

My great grandfather built a cabin on the Luzerne creek back in the 50's. My grandpas brother bought it from great grandpa in the 70's and retired there until the early 00's. I used to go up there as a kid and spot frogs in the pond. I had no idea about this story until I told my dad about going up there. He says "don't hesitate Damond" !!! What?? I said its up north! "Well they are a lil different in that part. You taking your gun?" Yes dad I do on all Craig's list deals!!! well it turned out fine, they were great people and very helpful!!

Jerry must like them an awful, awful, lot...
Yea he's a bit of a nut! I went cuz I knew it be fun. I waited till we got about half way up there before I told him about the "bad stuff" lol. He wasn't impressed with me at that point!

Nice save! Fabulous truck. Big block, dash shifter and pie plate headlights doesn't get any better than that.
Stromburg carburetor , white steering wheel which I guess is insanely rare for the trucks. This thing has everything but a/c. The swept lines have a bit of a following to. They go as nuts as we do for rare parts!

"Ran when parked and wedged between a boatload of trees!"

No, obviously, the owner was going to restore it, but then all these trees grew up around it, and he lost interest! Good on you guys for recovering this.\

The white steering wheel isn't exactly "rare", as it was part of the Custom cab option package. Also as part of the Camper Special option set, as well. Finding one in nice shape IS rare. You have a nice front chrome bumper. Looks like a decent grille and pieplates, too. Does it have a tailgate or the rear bumper?

What is that big lever on the cab floor, and that underhood tank?

The 1967 models were the last year for the big back window as an option - it was standard in 1968 and newer trucks

Had a 69 Fargo Camper Special so I've got a soft spot for these trucks...

No tailgate or rear bumper Patrick. The steering wheel is in very good shape that could be why he said "rare". Most of the panels are shot so he's taking the things he needs for his truck and parting the rest. The p/o's still have the camper they used to out on it too.

The tank( hydraulic reservoir )and the lever are for the plow attachment. In a 2wd!! We are trying to figure out if that reserve tank is OE. Theres a valve next to the drivers seat to switch tanks. Not to mention a car water pump housing. Anybody know if the radiators were "truck" specific?

The reserve tank was a factory option often found on camper specials.

The funny thing with my truck is it looks like they started to install one of these cut the hole in the outside bed wall but not the inside bed wall.

The truck did have two extra tanks under the bed.
