My driver side dash turn signal indicator was going in and out a couple months ago and now has completely stopped working. Did the simple ( change the bulb) still didn't work. The passenger signal works fine it is wired separately, but the drivers side uses the circuit board.

I checked the fsm but didn't see much else to help with this. Could it be the ground to the circuit board? Are there any tests I can do to check this?

i attached a pic of the bulb and the bulb holder so you guys can tell what's going on. All help appreciated

Double check the bulb. I've had more then a few that were junk right out of the package. That's why I usually buy a pack of 10....;)

Are you sure the bulb you changed is the turn sig bulb .....? it can get pretty confusing working behind the IP sometimes.

That's another good suggestion. I didn't think of it until the above response...but if one side is wired separately...then I would suspect that the other side is as well. I bet that is a bulb for some other dash function.

Bulb is working but signal indicator is not. It is the correct bulb location ( I agree it is weird but the FSM agrees and when I remove the bulb and bulb holder and shine a light up there the signal indicator is illuminated. Where is the ground for the dash circuit board located?

Really don't want to have to remove entire dash for this

No specific ground.

Bulb to socket
Socket to board
Board to instrument housing
Instrument housing to dash frame
Dash frame to body
Body to engine ground wire
Engine ground wire to engine
Engine to negative battery cable
Negative battery cable to battery

The dash is probably due for a rehab. In time the PC board oxidizes and the contact areas need to be cleaned. With the board removed take a pencil eraser to all the spots that the sockets make contact along with the spots where the screws are. Also clean the pins.

Thanks for the help. Does anyone make rebuilt circuit boards for the dash? I don't know that I need one just planning for the worst.

I pulled my dash out in my New Yorker, cleaned contacts, soldered burned traces in the circuit board. Those lights have never been brighter.

Is it normal to feel a bit overwhelmed at this point? Do y'all typically trouble shoot it on a bench with a 12 v battery or in the car?

Also have read a lot about bypassing the ammeter for safety. Could someone elaborate on that or post the link to a previous discussion about it. Thanks

undo both nuts, move one wire to the other post so both wires now reside on a single post. Attach nut, for added safety you can jam nut it. Ammeter is now bypassed. However, you still have all the load running through the bulkhead. At this point you need to run an 8 gauge wire from the alt power post to the battery side of the starter, or to the positive battery terminal itself.

All you need to do is run a 6/8/10 GA wire...bigger the better in my opinion. From the power stud on the back of the alternator, around and to the main power terminal on your starter relay. You can also go directly to the battery if you choose.

That's it. Your AMP gauge will no longer be accurate, but you will not have any more power fluctuations.

That circuit board for that one turn signal looks a little cooked....think we know the reason the light don't work.

Got the new circuit board in and it is a perfect match went in without a problem and the turn indicator is now working as it should.

I also got got my flashers working again. Can anyone tell me if it is normal for them to flash about 2-3x as fast as my blinkers? Seems like a strobe light! If this is not normal can anyone advise on trouble shooting that item? Go guy another flasher?
