Found a 69 Fury III on Craigslist - 318 auto - 2 door HT. Tan with red interior and red vinyl top - pics look decent. Waiting for the seller to call back. Asking price is $2750 - thoughts?

My Grandpa had a 69 4 door that he bought off of a local sheriff - had over 300,000 miles on it when he passed away in 79. Always remember what a cool car that was sitting in the garage - have wanted one since. The floorboards had holes that he put license plates over - interior was rough, body was straight but that funky shade of green ... I want one!

Might be easier to say if you have any pics? Got any without giving away the whereabouts...to insure some luker can't grab it from underneath your nose.

I have 3 pics that aren't worth a darn, but here goes LOL

If you really want it then don't post any more info...

Love to see it though.

I'm definitely wanting the car - left a message for the owner & waiting for the call-back. Still curious about the price, but that is a double-edged sword - beauty is in the eye of the beholder LOL

Stormer is definitely right about divulging the info on forum....but I can understand how you could want some objective opinion. So never give out any location telling information if you can help it.
The 3 pics: Well, I've seen worse soooo....my assessment is that its a 2dr coupe which already gives it one leg up in my book - cause there's much less of them left than there are 4dr family type sedans.......also being a concrete mopar freak I'm not bothered if it doesn't have the much sought after one year only polkadot this or fusia that color options....I don't give a rats ***...its a running 69' 2dr Plymouth Fury, good enough. One bugaboo with me is that I would prefer at least a 383 in a car this size, esp. a coup, but again because its a 2dr coup, I can learn to live with the small block. From what only 3 pics show it looks workable to me, I would haggle on the asking price though. $2750 seems a bit much, plus you should never pay asking price if you beat the seller down. Ultimately its all about how bad you want it. I like it.

I think it's a little high for a 318 car, however if the rust is not an issue and the location works out (instead of shipping a car) you might be ok. Many variables. Does it run & drive?

I'm still waiting to hear details about the condition, whether or not it runs / drives, what options, et cetera. Once I find out more, I'll post it here.

Based on the pics, I know the interior needs work - the hood looks askew / out of alignment (or maybe just not latched all the way) and the engine compartment is rough. Not thrilled with the 318, but they run forever, and if a person's of a mind, they CAN put out good power. Not the low-end, stump pulling torque of a B / RB, but still enough to make the car fun to drive. I'll definitely be trying to get the price lower - just trying to figure out a good starting point without ticking the current owner off. And I'll have cash in hand if the car looks solid, so that never hurts I suppose.

Yes. Definitely have a wad of cash on the spot and in hand......the GREEN always speaks loud and clear.

Anything built in "69" is not only "cool" , but a must have....for sure....You can always drop in a big block !!!!! If the $$ is right and If ya like it, just go buy it....We're getting older every day so ya gotta have fun...Make that dream happen Mighty Mopar

LOL I see a sniper ....

The owner of the car called back - it sounds to be in pretty good shape - no rust in the floor pans, which is always a plus ...

It looks decent in the pictures, and the price seems good............. pull the trigger and enjoy it. I know that I / we all have seen a lot worse for a lot more !!! :head_smack:

Based on the information the owner provided, I'm going to probably get this car - if the chassis is rust-free (relatively speaking that is) it will be a done deal. Love these cars - can't wait! Will keep everyone posted

Well,

The car was not quite what I was hoping for - the frame seemed pretty solid, but the floorboards and trunk had several holes in them. The trunk was the biggie - on the passenger side, there was a 1" x 6" slot rusted in the floor right above the subframe, so it may be rotting from the inside out on that area. The vinyl top had been taken off, and there were pinholes of rust all around the bottom of the rear window (which probably was draining into the trunk)

Interior was rough - carpet was rotted from standing water on the passenger side. Driver's side was nominally better. Dash had been cut out at the stereo so a new aftermarket stereo could be (and was) installed. Dash was also cracked, and the bottom of the driver's side, there was a panel missing. Passenger side rear fender had a lot of bondo that was cracking out. Steering box was loose, no antifreeze visible in the radiator, oil was low and as black as midnight in a mineshaft (no water in it though).

Long story short, I passed. I think the car is a potentially solid platform for someone with more time, space, and money than what I have - I'm going to keep looking.

However, to those who are bolder, richer, and have more time than me, here's a link to the old girl - I hope someone picks her up and resurrects her.

She's located in Temple, TX.

I know I'm going to regret passing on this one, but too much for me to take on right now.

LOL no it's not a split bench - it has an armrest that folds down. The poster was not familiar with the terms methinks ....

Hadda look again, so it has a black cover on the drivers side of the seat... the photo makes it look non existent
