69 ignition switch differences 5 lug or 6 lug

Curious to know what the extra ground lug on the 1969 only 6 lug ignition switch does. I have other switches that have only 5 lugs (no ground). Thanks in advance and here is a photo of what I am talking about they are all 69 switches.

It appears that the ground tab isn’t connected to anything. Maybe it was assigned for a ‘just in case’…

Odd. So it literally has no purpose as is… Someone at a show told me it had something to do with an A/C car. I figured it was for a carb solenoid so it wouldn’t “diesel” when turned off… Thanks for that diagram.

I haven’t checked to see if my car has a wire in that position or not. Just because the aftermarket diagram doesn’t show a wire, doesn’t mean that there wasn’t one for something.

True… It is used for something cause it’s in this ignition switch plug end. This picture is from this site.
