This one may have slipped through the cracks because the seller doesn't know what year it is. He says no rust though....

No, it's a 69 or later and the owner is ignorant.

I had a 1970 Dodge Challenger SE and it had the VIN number in the door jamb and showed clearly a september 1969 build date. Im thinking if this car is an early 69 model, he could be reading the 68 build date in the door?

68/69 didn't have the door stickers with build dates... That started with the 70 models.

the change of the brakes depends on the model year. 1970 models were the first with the single piston brakes.

The production time of a model is from 1st august to second week of july the following year even though some already ordered models were build till end of july. That means ie the 1969 Imperials were assembled from 1st august 1968 til 31st July 1969. All the cars built till the second/third week in september are sales banks (despite some show cars, public relation cars etecetc) which were delivered to the dealers in the second week of september so that they will have cars when the models are officially introduced, usually around the 20th septemeber.

So a lot of 69 Imperial models were built in 1968. They were sold to the public from around 20th september forward.

Maybe in this case it got titled as a 1968 by mistake if it is an early sold car?

Good Morning, here I am :) And you were right, I was sleeping, you are 7+ hours behind me.
Looks nice and, yes, this is a projectcar. But 4 Grand? hm.

I'm thinking he really just doesn't know what he has and years ago someone stuck the 68 license plate on it and wahlah, it's a 68!

I dream about finding cars like this way, trying to be sold by people who don't know what it is. Sweet.

The upholstery pattern and grille would indicate its a 69.

X2...... It looks to be a 69....

My 69 300 was built on OCT 8 1968... and used some carryover parts, like the chrome floor shift knob and no headrests.

He states he's LOOKING for $4000.00 in the ad.... sounds negeotable to me.... Offer $2500 and see where that go's.
