The supplied link to the prior thread/comments was 2016? And y'all mention "2012"? How long as this guy been trying to sell that car?
On the surface, a decent car. Don't care for the muffler shop exhaust system. Wheels are so-so and period-correct, but have surface corrosion on them. "Collector grade" and front seat covers are "age-cracked"? It does have a/c, though, but no mention of if it works.
The repaint to black is not a big deal if it was done well. As noted, TX sun didn't like silvers, especially the later '70s ones. But that data plate that appears to be GOLD? On an orig silver car that's now black? BUT, he didn't mention how rare it is! Whoops!
Over the years, I've seen sellers that "knew what they've got" (according to them) and allegedly know what it's worth. They might desire to appear to be "in control", but they are really NOT. They can tend to be more desperate than they want to appear to be. If this car has been around (for sale) for 6 years, somebody's going to be getting tired of dealing with it sooner or later. I suspect "sooner" (no pun intended). Wonder if he's got the title and such in order and ready to go?
It would make a nice car when it's "back in shape", but "Old Cars" Price Guide indicates (on their newer pricing system) about $10-16K, with $23K being #1 (which they indicate VERY FEW cars really are). He'll probably not entertain those lower prices, other than to consider them "entertainment". In the mean time, it's got a really nice barn to reside in, as it slowly deteriorates with time . . . and the tires become more flat-spotted.
In prior times, I would have lusted for a car like that (unmolested, basically), but that time has passed. For now.
