Don't start haggling by trying to pick it to pieces.

"The Chrysler is not in my possession" (by owner) re-seller, flag it.

Don't need too... ad poster seems to have done a decent job! :BangHead:

Pictures from 2012, not even going to go there. :icon_fU:

"Why am I having so much trouble decoding this?"
heh gold tag on a black car?

Oh crap! Is this the guy from Higgins, TX again ? Since I can't see the ad, what does he want for this No. 1 turd now?
The link is good, you at work?:poke:

Asking $24,250.

The "impatient hose twist" is kinda nice.. ~ (photos taken, while still hosing away)...

I LOVE this car almost as much, as I hate the wheels and the price, and the picture of the fender tag.

He read / wrote them wrong, resulting ion the trouble decoding. Sadly, I did that a lot too lately. Eyes are not what they used to, (and neither is the tags).

Imagine this with a couple of mint road wheels!

Did I ever tell you I love that avatar ?

The supplied link to the prior thread/comments was 2016? And y'all mention "2012"? How long as this guy been trying to sell that car?

On the surface, a decent car. Don't care for the muffler shop exhaust system. Wheels are so-so and period-correct, but have surface corrosion on them. "Collector grade" and front seat covers are "age-cracked"? It does have a/c, though, but no mention of if it works.

The repaint to black is not a big deal if it was done well. As noted, TX sun didn't like silvers, especially the later '70s ones. But that data plate that appears to be GOLD? On an orig silver car that's now black? BUT, he didn't mention how rare it is! Whoops!

Over the years, I've seen sellers that "knew what they've got" (according to them) and allegedly know what it's worth. They might desire to appear to be "in control", but they are really NOT. They can tend to be more desperate than they want to appear to be. If this car has been around (for sale) for 6 years, somebody's going to be getting tired of dealing with it sooner or later. I suspect "sooner" (no pun intended). Wonder if he's got the title and such in order and ready to go?

It would make a nice car when it's "back in shape", but "Old Cars" Price Guide indicates (on their newer pricing system) about $10-16K, with $23K being #1 (which they indicate VERY FEW cars really are). He'll probably not entertain those lower prices, other than to consider them "entertainment". In the mean time, it's got a really nice barn to reside in, as it slowly deteriorates with time . . . and the tires become more flat-spotted.

In prior times, I would have lusted for a car like that (unmolested, basically), but that time has passed. For now.

Close-ups would reveal that both the chrome and the paint show the age of the car (and the paint job) pretty well. I am impressed by the stick-to-it-ivness of the seller who will not reduce the price despite the long time that the car has been offered for sale now. Not to mention the prospects that I assume did come to check out the car in person in the meantime -- and went away without buying. Is it maybe a vow to a deceased person to sell the car for that amount, and not a penny less? Or the curse of the green hose?

I talked to this guy on the phone over three years ago. He said he was a somewhat retired used car dealer who is trying to "sell the car for a friend." He seemed like a nice guy and I enjoyed talking to him. He claimed the car was absolutely a very solid No. 1 car. But of course, it is not. At best, the car is a weak No. 4 car - especially since the paint is tired and not original, and the interior needs a lot of help. God only knows what else would turn up during an in-person inspection. I don't know why he keeps hanging on and advertising this car every year. . . At the time, I actually gave some thought to taking a trip to Higgins, TX, but given the man's rigid attitude, I knew it would be a waste of time and airfare.
