GOOD NEWS!!! The Newport now has a new home! I love my two formal Imps but have really wanted a fusie and now finally have one! I ended up paying $1100 for it. I also received a truck bed full of parts with it as well. It does run and drive, although not very well. The car bucks/jerks pretty good during acceleration when cold, the choke sticks (not original carb), and while it's equipped with a 383, the car seriously lacks power. I don't think I could squeal the tires on it even if I wanted to. I'm thinking a refresh/rebuild of the carb and trans should solve said issues, but I have yet to dig into it.
Me and a buddy went to a concert this past weekend and I bought it Saturday morning while on our way there. I ended up driving the car home after we left the concert Monday morning at 2am (had to work that morning and only got 2 hours of sleep lol). Only problem we had on the way home was the trans didn't want to shift into 3rd at one point getting onto the highway. Fluid was cherry red and full before we left. Added a half quart of fluid and didn't do it the rest of the way home.
The original window sticker and a lot of the original paperwork is still in the glove box yet. Car was bought brand new in St. Louis Park, MN at Kay Motors. Overall the car is pretty solid, but definitely needs some TLC. My plan is to make a decent reliable summer driver out of her and enjoy her for years to come!
