71 Newport in Phoenix

Looked pretty nice in the pictures so off I went to take a look. Glad I only had to go 20 minutes to see it. Nice rust free body but very rough around the edges and in the middle too. Needs way too much for $3500.

What does rough around the edges mean? Someone will probably cough up the 3500 bucks. What's rough around the edges...hard to tell with the pic...details?

Well for starters the paint is horrible. Chips and scratches on just about every inch of it and thin spots with primer showing through everywhere. Dash is trashed, drivers window regulator is out of it, windshield is broken, carpet is bad. numerous oil and tranny fluid leaks, missing moldings and pitted bent bumpers and valances. I didn't drive it or even have him start it because to me it's a $1000 car. The good parts are it is rust free and it is a 2 door.

the question that always has to be asked is, can another one be easily found in better cond for the same $$?

and yes, probably, it's a plain jane car that is not highly desireable to begin with. price is just too high for what is there. Example: that 71 300 htp in buffalo, ny for $19,995.........gorgeous car, many would like to have it, but you can buy a rag in the same cond for that $$.

flip side: you only need one person to buy a car, so as long as he is interested.......price may not be too far out of whack.
