72/73 Imperial LCA Bushings

I am working on the LCA bushings on my 73. As they arnowhere to be found, I am having a set of shoulderless Delrin bushings being machined. As it is difficult for me to accurately measure the OD of the shaft and the ID of the control arm with a set of calipers, I am now on my second set. I now have a good interference fit on the shaft. I am now .870 ID, and 1.532 OD. I will have to press the shaft on (the previous pair the ID was .872 and OD was 1.530), but the bushing will slide into the LCA with a little twisting motion. It will not slide on easily, just some pressure and twisting. Will this type of fit work, or shouls I again add .002 to the OD to get more of an interference fit?

Maybe all us Imperial owners should ask Firm Feel for Imperial suspension help in a short time line. Then they will see a market or not to make some parts up for us.

Been working with them, they do not have the dimensions and Matt at Firm Feel sais to have Delrin bushings made.
 
Below are the dimensions I have measured form a pair of NOS bushes:
External: 1.538"
Internal: 0.868"

Thanks for the measurements, not sure I want to push the envelope that much. The ID is close (ID .870 vs .868), but the OD is .006 smaller. As the shell of the OE bushing is a thin steel, It will probably compress easier around the rubber. The Delrin is less forgiving.
But, I guess I need to go up on the OD. I really would like to know the engineering behind the LCA bushings. In the OE, I guess the rubber is the material that flexes when the LCA goes up and down. The Delrin will not do that, so the LCA will rotate around the Delrin.
I would like to hear other's thoughts.

Not sure if this helps, but I learned something recently about Napa. Probably just where I may be a little slow, but hopefully this may help you or someone else.
If you check with Napa for any parts for your car be sure to use Imperial as the make and not Chrysler. I have a 69 Imperial and if you choose 69 Chrysler the only options are Newport, New Yorker, and Imperial.
However if you use Imperial as the make more parts show up.

I checked directly with Rare Parts and the lower control arm bushings for a 69 Imperial are an obsolete part, meaning production has stopped.
The second part with part # NCP 2673193 is still available. I know probably made overseas but the parts are drying up quickly.

Napa shows LCA Bushings not in stock and not availble for home delivery. I tried finding the part no. NCP 2673193 both at Napa and Rare Parts, no joy. Sorry, I have had many looking for the bushings and all finally say N/A. Firm Feel, PST and others, no longer available. I checked with Napa and all of the parts stores, and N/A. Can you tell me where you found part no. NCP 2673193?

I live in the East Tennessee area. Let me know for sure the NCP 2673193 is the correct part and I will pick up 2 of them for you if that helps.
If it keeps one of our cars on the road in better shape that is a win for all of us!

I tried the lower control arm bushing today for my Imperial ...... and guess what? No go! I double checked after seeing the size difference and I went back and checked the application for a 69 Roadrunner, same part number as my Imperial. So, obviously I know why they are too small.
I am sorry I gave you and anyone else on this forum bad information. Back to the drawing board.
 
Thanks for the info. I had my parts guy cross check the napa number and it came up with Moog K791. which is standard A.B. E body lower bushing.
Keep on looking.
 
Just to clarify by some pictures about the LCA bushings for the 73 Imperial.
Supreme MS25486 didn´t fit.
outside diameter: 38,45mm = 1,5137795in
- but needs 39mm (=1,53543in), therefore it can´t be fixed/pressed in.

Is there another TRW-No. maybe or something like that?

This may be old by now. I clicked your Napa link and I came up with part number RPC 15324. The note on the top indicates "Guaranteed to fit 1973 Chrysler Imperial".

Went to Rare Parts website and it states 15324 is applicable for 1967-73 Imperials. I put one in the cart and no indication it is NOT available.

If Rare Parts is correct, LCA bushings for 67'-73' Imperial's is looking to be hard to find as Rock Auto has no LCA listings for those years. I did contact Moog and they indicated that if enough people would fill in the form to request this part, manufacturing would consider making a run order. I am going to request what number of units they would need to consider making an order.
