NOT MINE 72 New Yorker

We’ve discussed this car before here but (AFAIK) it was at the time not for sale. The photos from the ad are the same as those from back then. Would love to see the tag — GT8 or GK6? (answer: HT8)

How about that, a New Yorker showing up in NYC. Finally.

I remember this one. It was a movie car or something. One or two of the domes were damaged if I recall correctly....not a biggie.

The trunks and hoods are cartoonishly long for the size of the greenhouse; the dour-doors aren't much better. Just part of the reason I love old cars, especially fuselages: no expense (in terms of size/weight/style) spared to achieve a look! You won't get that nowadays...

OK, back to what makes the car unique. From the ad:

"Heater core is bi-passed, does have AC but has to be hooked up, there is no radio, needs a headliner (...) and No radio" -- no big deal, but worth noting.

"motor on sun roof needs to be rebuilt." -- say what?! SUNROOF!

"(among all NYers in 1972), only 12 were produced with custom corinthian leather bucket seats, making this car extremely rare."

We need to see the tag of this beauty. I am not aware of a "Corinthian leather" option for 1972. @amazinblue82 @saforwardlook @69CoronetRT

too many people today think vinyl is leather...........

id say its been repainted and the thin lower trim strip not put back on

Probably is Cologne, not Corinthian.

Hello everyone, I hope everyone is doing well. I haven`t been here since I sold my T&C a while ago but today, I found this post while researching this NY. I saw it yesterday on FB and contacted the seller. I talked to him on the phone today and plan on going and see the car tomorrow.

I noticed that this same car was discussed here previously:

2017 for sale in Garfield (would have been closer ) For Sale - 1972 New Yorker 2 door hard top | For C Bodies Only Classic Mopar Forum

And

For Sale - 1972 Chrysler New Yorker Brougham coupe - $8500 (Garfield) | For C Bodies Only Classic Mopar Forum

And in 2020 (1) A 1972 Chrysler New Yorker Brougham as a movie star | For C Bodies Only Classic Mopar Forum

This is the website where it can be rented. Used 1972 Chrysler New Yorker 70s 80s American Nondescript Luxury For Sale (Call for price) | Cooper Classics LTD Stock #FILM4311

The story the seller told me ads up. He bought it a couple of years ago for his movie business. He has 16 cars he uses for movies and commercials. Since he is no car collector, he didn’t care about all the issues he mentioned in the post (heater-core, AC, headliner, radio ). He also said that the fuel gauge isn’t working. He replaced the window motors and made sure its reliable and road worthy for his customers. One customer at one point requested a car with open sunroof and so he cut the headliner to get access to the sunroof mechanism. He didn’t fix the motor but you can open and close it manually now.

@polara71, you say the price was $8500 yesterday? That’s strange, when I saw it first, it was $10.500 and he dropped the price within a few hours to $9.500. I think he bought it for $7.500 back in 2017. But we all know, the prices went up since 2017, unfortunately.

What do you guys think would be a fair price? I’m not looking for a show car, just a good, solid driver. I read in one of the older posts here, that the subframe in the rear might be caped. I have two cars I take to shows, this one would be a nice daily driver for the summer, and I would probably sell it again in 2 or 3 years. I don’t need to make any profit (I`m not a flipper), but I also don’t want to lose a ton of money. So, what do you think would be a fair price, considering the headliner, some minor mechanical issues (I would probably take care of most of them) and a patched subframe (if it turns out to be true)? I would appreciate your thoughts.

Fabian

If the body/frame is sound, no rust, the previous asking price of $8,500 would be fair, considering it's a sunroof car. The photos are from 2020, hard to know how hiring it out has affected the car, post some pics here if you can.
