NOT MINE 72 New Yorker

Hello everyone,
So I looked at the car today and yes, it looked different then 5 years ago. Much different
The whole lower body is held together by bondo. The left rear quarter panel is made from a thin piece of sheet metal bent around the old rusted one. The right rear quarter panel is fiber glass. I took a picture of the fender tag.
I did not buy the car. Sun roof doesn’t close all the way.
Bummer. Nice car, but a typical north east rust bucket.

Wow! The lesson here is don't buy a car based just on the pictures in the ad!
damn.

long as i have been doing this, i almost bit.

nice but not five figures nice to me, and unless i know seller, i long ago stopped buying sight unseen.

I'll watch until gone or it gets a level where i'd feel better about a purchase intention.

hope it finds a good home in any event

Thank you @Fabianc18 -- very informative photos. Thanks a bunch for posting the tag -- we now know that CS23T2C253009 was originally painted HT8 with a G6T5 tan interior. Beautiful car, despite the flaws.

PS: H53 AutTemp and G-VON, very interesting combination.

Ah, a perfect car to sell to a neophyte first timer...

A fender tag / radiator support so heavily rusted like this is a give away too.

I respectfully disagree. Not enough info from the above pic, because the original color is HT8 -- which is pretty much the color of (dirty) rust.

Looking at those pics, value just dropped by 70%.
I'd still be willing to do a bit better than that (vs. his ask, freight included), but in my mind and IMHO it did get a value hair cut, to the degree I wouldn't waste seller's time (given what I would want to do to it).

Appreciate @Fabianc18's objective report on it, and still wish seller good luck with it. there's some good still there .. at the right price.

Hello everyone, I didn`t have enough time Saturday when I posted the pictures to write a more details. I also didn`t want to take more pictures after I decided that I would not buy the car. That would be weird and I didn`t want so waste the sellers and my time any longer. That`s why I didn`t even start the car or checked lights, wipers etc. He said that the carb needs some tuning and the fuel gauge doesn't work.
But what I can tell:
> the Chrome is good besides one small dent in the rear bumper and the driver door (lower) trim fell off and must be reattached.
> Vinyl roof is good but the sun roof (must be operated with a screw driver) doesn't close all the way.
> Interior is good driver quality. No rips or tears in the seat, no crack in the dashboard. The driver seat back panel is in the trunk. Carpet in the rear is full with crumps from the seat cushion (maybe mice? maybe just falling apart). Car was stored outside under a cover the last 10+ years so the interior smells moist like a moist basement.
> Paint is so so. Was repainted 15-20 years ago and is not the best paintjob. Small bubbles on the hood and trunk etc. (maybe dust in the air while painting or moisture).
> Bondo??? yes, see pictures :) lots of it.
> Doors open and close very good. no sagging.
> Unfortunately, there was not enough clearance to crawl under the car to examine the floors and frame completely. I did not see any rot but still would be careful considering the quarter panels. I definitely recommend bringing ramps if someone considers buying that car.

In my opinion, I is a beautiful car that can be a great driver if someone doesn't care about the bondo and fiber glass repairs. It`s still a rare sun roof car with a 440 and good interior. It all depends on the price. I did not make an offer because its not the right car for me. But for someone else it might be. I just hope, that whoever buys that car, know what he is buying and doesn't buy it sight unseen.
I once bought a car unseen. I paid $360 for an inspection through the company "lemon squad". Report was 160 pages with pictures and description. the inspector even had the car on a lift. He took about 20-30 pictures of the undercarriage but none of the pictures showed the holes, rot and the trunk was 80% fiberglass. What a nightmare. I learned my lesson :)
