I posted a comment over in the 73 Imperial Moonroof car thread and 78NYB asked if this was a pic of one of my other cars. To answer his question...no it is not.

It's a 4dr 73 Imperial I went to look at a few years ago. Sitting since 1980 in a damp, frequently flooded barn. Motor would not turn. Was coded for a factory sunroof, but it was not present. Never noticed the code unitl later. Maybe it was filled and a new vinyl top and headliner installed over it? I wanted the car , but they wanted way too much money for it.

Anyway here are a couple pics.

Wow, that IS a rare option. They always want way more than it is realistically worth. I bet they wanted the moon and the stars for that car, even though knowing it's submerged from time to time.

I wouldn't want it if it was submerged numerous times.

Crying shame they let it get to that point. I don't understand why some people come to own a car like that and then don't take care of it.:BangHead:

It was still in the original families possesion...so I think that's why they wanted so much for it....centimental pricing.

I can understand the sentimental value...but they have to move it so it doesn't get submerged anymore.

So because they cared about so much, they let it get ruined...and then once it IS ruined they want to sell it for an arm and leg.

I don't think it will ever be for sold for any substantial $$$ since being submerged. I don't think you would be able to get the stench out without a total tear down and replacing a ton of stuff.

You wont, its now a parts car

Only if they move it to a dry location............or in another 5 years it will end up the with the same fate that we've seen too many times before. A complete loss that won't yield any salvageable parts.

If its already been "submerged" then its gone already, rust has set in. only one guy willing to strip an Imperial down and replace all wiring, interior and metal. He's already got his hands full.
