73 Newport

I have owned a 73,72 and 69 Newport 72 and 73 had 400 2 barrel and 69 had 383 4 barrel the 73 newport had 140,000 mi when I got the and it was one of the fastest cars i have ever driven it had 273 rear end just like the other and a 69 383 4 barrel with high performance intake carb and 3 inch dual l exhaust would loose to my 73 in any kind of race would anyone know why 73 400 would be that powerful?
 
do you know for a fact the engine was stock? Do you know for a fact the rear was a 2:73 or is that what the tag says?


Perhaps your other cars were just that slow.....:dontknow:
 
I know the car was stock my dad was the original owner. I know the car flat out flew for big car my friend had 68 impala w hippo 396 he could not keep up with . I had another friend at the time with 350 firebird he could not keep up with me on the highway I had the speedometer pinned a few times with room to spare. My 69 was no slouch it was a beast for what it was and still to this day I have no idea why it was like that
