Well.....these guys are pretty high end! Usually they sell cars in the high 5 to low 6 figure range. No Lash specials here.

And considering that Streetside in Charlotte wants 18k for a 74 Mercury Marquis and Lash wants the same for his NYBs (among others and ebayers).....it may not be so unreasonable after all. They are about 2 hours from my house, I may try to get up there and look at it this week

AFAIAC they are making Gesswein look reasonable... and to me that is saying something. I really hope that one is perfect, and if it trips your trigger, you get it. I am way, way too cheap.

For that kind of $$ it should be "showroom" - but I have seen some of their vehicles before and they tend to live up to the hype.

True, 17k for a 76 NYB is pretty sky high.

It now says "Sale Pending" WTF?

Ever notice that these car stores don't show the VIN to keep you from tracking its provenance?

Not even a showroom NYB would be worth that much in any situation except maybe one and only one. That being a 76 with less than 10 miles on the car straight from the factory and then enclosed. Then that begs the question is it really worth it? Do you start driving such a car or do you now enclose it while showing off to your friends this great car which has never been on the road as intended.

Serious question for those that know these things.

How much would the proto-typical CL for sale ad, judged by FCBO as being a $2,500 NYB, cost to get it as nice as this one? Or let's say a $5K one.

How much extra assuming this one needs nothing to be as nice as it purports to be and assuming the CL one that needs work needs the usual suspects addressed i.e. paint, roof repair, new vinyl top, brakes, exhaust, suspension, motor, trans, thermostat, A/C work, some seats, carpet, dash, etc. etc ?

And what would you do with it? You can't take it out anywhere for fear that a fly might land on it and ooze it fly acid on the perfect paint or upset the suspension balance or a small child may walk too close and it would be ruined for all eternity. That would be too much stress.

Bryan, in my heart, I know that if I needed cash by 9:00 PM tomorrow or I lose my house, the best I should hope for is 25 hundred dollars. But I know that the guy who just paid high teens for that car will never love it more than I love my car.
Buy the way, I'm finally going to reveal what I paid for my car.
Wait for it.
25-hundred dollars.

If you look at it that way yes. If you look at it like, well no one else enjoyed this car so I sure as hell am going to no.

If you want a very nice car to DRIVE ... how much would it cost to get a lesser car to this condition to DRIVE ... and forget having it and not driving it. Just like you would if you were the type to fix up a car and drive it.

I'm not saying drive it in the snow and salt. Just drive it like any other very nice classic car ... this assumes you are not a that guy you describe.

I'm sure you got a great deal on it. How much have you put into it since you bought it btw?
