It does look great.

If I didn't have such a perfect green interior in my Newport....I would consider putting these seats in it.

I do need a green NYB headliner for my Newport.

This car is very nice!

It's way too nice to be a headliner doner, move on! ;)

I had a 78 NYB obo 6 years ago, my first formal... It had similar green leather seats, I loved them!

No headliner though, just the board. :( I guess the factory glue for headliners was a common weakness on these cars...

My 78 NYB has the solid blue foam headliner....that was the ONLY thing on my NYB that didn't need work when I bought it. On the other hand, my 78 Newport interior is perfect....except for the glue separating from the cloth headliner and is sagging. Yep, those cloth headliners in Formals are a problem.

If I could find a green foam NYB headliner....I would carefully cut a hole for the dome light and install it without the cloth.

I betcha the solid foam headliner can easily have a cloth glued to it.

Yes, but not the original sagging cloth, no matter how intact it could be otherwise... It just can't be tighten nicely any more. :(

Oh, sorry, I tought we were still talking about the board and cloth... I'll have to use the dictionary more often I guess.:eek:ops:

I thought it was only the sunroof cars that had a cloth headliner. I thought all the rest of them had that formed trimmed cardstock.

Refresher course.
74/75 All Formals and 76-78 Formals w/S.R.: cloth with support bars
76-78 NYBs, All (except w/S.R.): one PC. molded foam.

And what I was saying,Bob, is to COVER your existing molded foam headliner with cloth and 3M adhesive.

My 78 Newport has cloth that is separating and sagging from the cardboard everywhere. My 78 NYB is a solid textured molded foam headliner with no cloth.

Only additional to the headliner info is that the 75-77 wagons had 2 piece foam headliners.

First dumb question for Sept then.....
Why not put new cloth on it?

So Newports got cloth/cardboard. Ok, I'll have to go edit my refresher course
